quote:I think speculating who might have done it, a reasonable reporter would look to islamic extremist and anti government extremists as the two most likely suspects in a bombing on American soil.
So their reporting of the matter, with convenient reference to "right-wing extremists," was the responsible thing to do in your view?
Its amazing. If anyone speculates that it could be domestic terrorism, based on possible significance of the site and day, they are "hoping and praying its a white guy"...but if they immediately precede/follow that with possible connections to Islamic terror, its ignored...all in the name of "outrage".
quote:This is paranoia and not based in reality. You want to blame people for what you subscribe their motives to be and not what they actually reported or said.
They are obviously projecting their wishes that the perps are right-wing
Have you ever noticed how it never enters these same folks' minds that it could possibly be left wing extremists?
They are obviously projecting their wishes that the perps are right-wing, Maybe they'll be right one of these times.
Nope they will call this a stupid thread and say you need to focus on the victims
Forget the victims of the actual attacks. Pray for the GOP,
Compared to "right wing" attacks, which happened mostly in the 90's. Since then, most have been by Muslims or left wing.
An association fallacy is an inductive informal fallacy of the type hasty generalization or red herring which asserts that qualities of one thing are inherently qualities of another, merely by an irrelevant association. The two types are sometimes referred to as guilt by association and honor by association. Association fallacies are a special case of red herring, and can be based on an appeal to emotion.
quote:In the beginning it reminded me most of the 1996 attack on the Olympics.
The bombing happened at a sporting event. Not directed at a Gov't building, nor was a political statement or claim made after the bombing. So why is it reasonable to assume "right wing" extremists, over "left wing"?
quote:Yes, but none of those seem similar to a bombing like this. Bombings like this in the US, rightly or wrongly, conjur up images i the minds of most Americans of OKC, WTC, and the Olympics.
The majority of major attacks recently have been perpetrated by left leaning people, or those raised in left leaning homes...
