You know this already happened, right? So we are living in a time after there has been a tax on voting and test requirements.

Are you trying to tell us you're in favor of the OP?

lets say a background check pops up and you get labeled as someone with "extremist ideology" because you said the 2020 election was a fraud.

do you see how this could be problematic?

And yet it's been the weapon of choice in dozens of mass shootings. Every time we lose 10 or more people it seems it's some idiot who got ahold of an AR.

But yeah, totally not a weapon used to assault.

The argument is akin to someone having tomatoes in their vegetable garden. "Dude, you can't call that a vegetable garden! You have tomatoes! Tomatoes are fruit, not vegetables!!!".

Embarrassing. I can assault you, even kill you with those tomatoes. Does that make them "Assault Tomatoes?" Ponder for one second all of the things that can be arbitrarily deemed "assault weapons."

Special permits are just the governments way of keeping track of who has weapons. Why keep passing laws that only effect law-abiding citizens because criminals dgaf about a permit.

Only because it is widely available and has gained a mystique. There are many others that have similar capabilities.

If you removed the AR from the scene these people would simply move on to the next available group.

It would go on from there until we got down to sharp sticks.

While you messed up by incorrectly using the term "Assault Rifles," there are already restrictions on weapons even though the argument against them is the slippery slope.

You will find some who think that we should all be able to own anti-aircraft weapons and tanks also; so, there is no discussion.

I own probably six guns and have one on me when not at work or the gym all the time. Personally, for personal protection purposes, I have a problem with anyone who can carry a gun with more rounds that my 9mm, because that makes it more difficult for one to defend ones self, but any discussion about gun law changes is verboten by the people who don't believe in exchange of ideas as guaranteed in the First Amendment.

Of course, by using the term "assault rifle," you eliminated any possibility of discussion. Of course, yesterday, I had to tell one of my employees who owns an AR-15 that AR did not stand for Assault Rifle. So, even some owners are unaware.

2) if you're worried about the american government turning tyrannical on its citizens and using force....that battle is already lost. america is the strongest military in history. if they want to get you, they will. even if your house is stock piled with machine guns. they will simply send a drone over your house and bomb the shite out of you
So give up more freedoms?

Yes. In the past. Bring it back if you want special permits for certain scary black guns.

A voting permit is cool too, right?

Common sense to you is ignorance to us.

Do you realize that in the evolution of "assault" weapons the typical AR-15 is a relic from the '50s or '60s?

The ignorance on the left is huge but what is worse they think they are wise. They don't even know how dumb they are.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Want to regulate assault rifles? You will need to amend the Constitution.

The AR 15 platform is the most widely circulated fire arm today. There are upwards of 30 million of them in civilian hands. The gun is not the problem.

Point over your head.

There is always going to be something widely available.

If not the AR, then the Glock, the pump shotgun, etc. The AR just happens to hold that slot at the moment. If it wasn't that, it would be something else.

Mmmmmmelt, why do you democrats love giving violent offenders light sentences, plea deals, and early release?

Why don’t you want to give violent offenders maximum penalties with zero chance of parole?
