Why is the WaPo destroying Comey today?

Don't they need his testimony to take down Trump? Arent they essentially proving that Trump was right in firing him? Are they so warped that they cant stay on the same cooked up narrative, before destroying it?
So, WaPo says Comey used fake intel about the Russians to guide the course of Hillary's email investigation, which resulted in unfair treatment of the Hildebeast
But there is NO WAY IN HELL that the exact same FBI director, couldn't possibly have done the exact same thing to Trump. You know, use fake Russian dossier to investigate Trump of something where there was no connection, amirite?
So now if Comey ever does testify in an open session, his word on anything Russians will now be shite

Because they read between the lines after the testimony the last few days and realized their cart was hitched to a dying horse in Comey.

THey have no interest in having POTUS Trump impeached. History would correctly judge the WaPo and NYT as participating in a soft coup with the Democratic Party to bring down a democratically elected president.
They DO NOT want this.
They simply want to bog down his presidency with a "thousand cuts" to prevent him from enacting his policies and make the public disenchanted enough to vote his party out in 2018 and render him powerless.

Id think this if they hadnt already exposed themselves.
They write about how Trump would be the end to freedom of the press yet after maybe a week completely ignored where the Obama administration was charging reporters with espionage.
They write about how Trump is "losing Carrier" yet ignored that the plant was going to completely close.
They essentially place 100% of their faith in the IC about anything negative with the Trump administration yet James Clapper is a proven liar.
One of the fact checkers has the exact same statment from Bernie and Trump as
mostly true and mostly false respectively.
The list could go on. The press has an agenda.
