Irrelevant to you maybe, but not to rational people. It's actually a VERY relevant point, which is obvious - we don't need to increase defense spending by another $54 billion when we are already by far the most powerful nation on Earth.

No you don't.
I've called for larger decreases than most people can stomach and I've laid why we should do it and how it would work.

Entitlements and debt service find your ignorance amusing.

Leave it to the southern football forums to put bigger weight on more guns over helping the less fortunate
Leave it to you to put more weight on giving lazy asses with 10 kids and criminals more money than those that protect our country.

Woobie
Off topic, but the greatest military purchase I ever made was my super soft ACU pattern woobie from Ranger Joes.
That thing has been around the world and it still maintains the prime spot on my couch.

I love mine (BDU).
I have an ACU wool blanket that is phenomenal, though.

Because of all the shite our federal government spends money on, defense is one of the 2-3 that are actually in the constitution

I'd rather start by understanding why the costs are so bloated and work to fix that.
If anything we need more people in the military and we need to spend our money more wisely.
Why do we need more people in the military? What positions are wanting and are there not any superfluous ones?
Ever penny we spend over whatever it takes to secure our own interests frees up our competition from using resources to secure their interests. Trumps military budget would mean we were footing the bill for roughly 40% of the worlds military spending....40% of the bill paid by 4% of the worlds population....and that doesn't seem excessive to most people.
So what are we going to do with that kind of spending an who the frick are we going to do it with? If we increase spending by a penny the rest if the world has several pennies to invest in education and healthcare and R&D......and the right goes on and on about free markets while U.S. Companies and workers are subsidizing their competition around the world.......

Not many I know agree, but I think polypro tops and bottoms are the greatest thing in the world. I wear them all the time.

Yeah, except none of our founding fathers were marxist/socialists. They didn't believe in the redistribution of wealth from those who do to those who don't. They didn't believe in a powerful, centralized government, able to take from the producers at will. If they did, we wouldn't be here.
You're right, and to that end, they also didn't believe in maintaining a standing army.
Times change.

Military is forced welfare. Most people who had alternative options choose not to go into military. Its the government's way to subsidize the less fortunate without calling it welfare but we know the truth.

You don't even know why we maintain the most powerful military on the planet.
Now how would you even know that? As a former service member, I understand completely the need for a strong defense, which we have. Our military is by far the strongest on the planet.
You, on the other hand, can't explain the need for an additional $54 billion in defense spending when the U.S. already spends more than the next seven countries combined (including Russia and China).

You may say you want defense cuts, but the mere fact that you are arguing with me on an elementary point that the U.S. is already the most powerful nation on Earth in terms of military spending says otherwise.
