Because openly proposing military cuts would mean the same politically as pushing for gun confiscation and lowering age of consent to 10 so you can marry your 11 year old Mexican male life partner. It's political suicide.

I wasnt complaining about the budget slappy. Read the posts. I was talking about how all conservatives talked about was the deficit and Obamacare. And now neither are being addressed.

There you go folks, you want lower taxes? You want to pay debts? Cut the military

Alright, who's the Marine that downvoted my "they're the smallest" comment?

Do we really need all the equipment? Do we really need all the personnel? I read that even if we cut military spending by HALF, we are still the largest spenders?
Black budget comes out of this pot...like securing 80% of the state of Nevada

Im just confused about the fact that conservatives have been complaining about deficit for years against Obama.
So we had a tax squeeze with massive entitlement growth, coupled with the poorest economic recovery in US history. The result? Obama added an incomprehensible $9.4Trillion to the National Debt. That, my friend, is the source of complaint.

We spend entirely too much on the military.
In fairness it is one of the few things that the government is supposed to fund.

Please. Call me skippy, not slappy.
And my points still stand.
You complained about Trump wanting to raise the budget. name one budget in the last 50-75 years that was not raised?
However, your point is taken. The deficit skyrocketed under Bush, too. None of the politicians are paragons of thrift.

The fact that the Trumpies won't say out loud is that the U.S. spends more on defense than the next seven countries COMBINED, including Russia and China. Facts are stubborn things.

You ignore the fact that it had zero impact on increasing the budget, though. he cut entitlements to fund the increase....so we have to give him credit for that.

And I want to cut the military by more than anyone on this board.

What are the plans to fix Obamacare? As of Friday we seemed content to roll with it for the foreseeable future.

It's irrelevant in that context. However, when the US accounts for 22% of global GDP and 37% of global military spending, it's a little better indicator of the bloated nature of defense spending.

No, I'm asking why should the conversation change when we're allowing Obamacare to continue despite the majority and the WH.

quote:Well we're responsible for the security of well over 37% of the world. That's why imwe spend so much. We also conduct virtually 100% of the military R&D in the world. All of Europe and most of Asia are mooching of us and riding our coat tails. And the wars in the Middle East are but a sliver of that. You think we spend trillions on stealth fighters and nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers to roll around in the mud with a bunch of goat herders in the desert?
