But Bush? People are reminded regularly of the frick up that was iraq. It was probably the biggest FP blunder since the bay of pigs, if not a bigger blunder.

From your own link...

quote:

In 1998, U.S. intelligence had information that a group of unidentified Arabs planned to fly an explosives-laden airplane into the World Trade Center, according to a joint inquiry of the House and Senate intelligence committees

quote:

As early as 1994 the government received information that international terrorists "had seriously considered the use of airplanes as a means of carrying out terrorist attacks," the report says.

quote:

It said that in 1998, officials received reports concerning a "bin Laden plot involving aircraft in the New York and Washington, areas." Officials received reports that al Qaeda was trying to establish an operative cell in the United States and that bin Laden was attempting to recruit a group of five to seven young men from the United States to travel to the Middle East for training in conjunction with his plans to strike U.S. domestic targets.

quote:

intelligence officials did not focus enough attention on a critical al Qaeda operative, unnamed in the report, whom officials had known about since 1995 "but did not recognize his growing importance" to the organization or to Osama bin Laden.

quote:

Government sources told CNN that operative is Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, whom they describe as one of the masterminds of the September 11 attacks. He was indicted by the United States for plotting to bomb U.S. airliners in 1995. Officials believe he also plotted to have airplanes hijacked and flown into U.S. buildings.

Looks like Clinton didn't do shite to prevent 9/11 either.

Where's the outrage over that??

I suspect that Clinton just loves to campaign. Finishing his second term was the worst thing to happen to the man. Much worse then his love of getting skull from a chubby intern becoming public. The man lives politics like it is the oxygen in his lungs.

Now he lives vicariously through other Democrats running for office and the cringe worthy campaigns of his wife. He is a political addict trying to get his fix.

Bush probably just wants to lay low, have a few beers, and pray that no member of his family runs for the office anytime soon so he won't be dragged out to campaign for them. I think the man is much happier not being President.

Ironic that you criticize Clinton and not Bush for having an addiction.

Tell me sir... what did Bush do to prevent 9/11 during those 8 months he was president?

Probably little.

quote:

We know Cheney was appointed to head an anti-terrorism commission which never meant.

Dereliction. I bet they were reading the PDPs though.

quote:

In July 2001, Bush was given a briefing prepared for senior government officials warned of "a significant terrorist attack against U.S. and/or Israeli interests in the coming weeks. The attack will be spectacular and designed to inflict mass casualties ... (it) will occur with little or no warning."

He probably should have agreed to take OBL when the Saudis offered - twice.

quote:

So what did Bush do with these threats? I mean besides have his AG fly in private jets.

He was working on a strategery, no doubt. Just not fast enough.

quote:

So next time we laugh when you guys get upset because Obama took an afternoon off for golf when bad things are happening, just remember your guy who you have the nerve to argue was given a tough time by the press.

Obama has taken almost 6 years off. Other than pushing Obamacare and campaigning/fundraising, of course...

Exactly. The Clintons would accept total rule over us if we let them. They cannot get enough. Jimmy Carter too. What is it with Liberals? They are some power hungry people.

My opinion - Bush never really wanted to be POTUS and that's why he was never comfortable in the position. Just think of the grief he could have avoided had he remained General Partner of the Texas Rangers.

Which brings to mind, who was the runner up in the 2000 Repub primaries? McCain? Gore probably would have beaten him. One decision can affect the whole world.

And another thing, Bush doesn't have to say anything because the man behind the curtain, Dick Cheney, mouths off at every opportunity.

When Reagan was alive he campaigned for Rs. Popular presidents campaign, unpopular ones stfu. I don't know what your point is here.

I don't see Jimmy Carter campaigning for Dems

That is pretty damned close. I had a recent conversation with a friend who is in the music business in Nashville. I asked him "Why do stars like Tony Bennett and Joan Rivers continue to perform in small venues like Shreveport when they are in their 80s? Do they need the money?"

Him: "No, they crave the spotlight. They can't give it up."

This is Bill Clinton. Bush has no problem walking off the stage and moving on to private life.

Unlike Clinton whose stage is the world. He can't walk off of it. Wherever he goes he is onstage.

Clinton is still well liked and his wife is running for POTUS.

GWB will never be liked and Babs isn't running for POTUS.

I think it is pretty simple, and I voted for both Clinton and Bush.

Funny thing is, their policies are pretty much the same...

What policy initiatives from Clinton caused the huge boom and good times? I shall now hold my breath while a wait for an answer.

Timing is everything.

Still, when he left office we were sliding into recession and then 911. Bush oversaw the longest job growth in US history. His economic policies were excellent but the subprime will always hold him in shackles. The subprime crisis was the result of both parties and the famous words "every American should own a house".
