McGrath (pg 2)

I don't give a rat's a$$ how long ago anything happened. And I will explain why.

As a parent, I have a very basic goal of wanting my kids to have life better than I did. As my parents did for me. Thus, I make certain sacrifices for the future of my kids. Foresaki g my own future.

Now, in how many generations will (any group or people) be required to improve things for themselves.

I often use a saying that can be applied to this conversation.....treat people FAIRLY, not EQUALLY. I believe that Bill Parcells sai d that.

Dude, chill. Everyone on this board cares for your mental well being. We are here for you.

Here. This will help.

quote:

Anger, pain and depression are three negative experiences so closely bound together it can sometimes be hard to know where one ends and the other begins. Pain is a complex phenomenon that has emotional and physical components. The emotions play a huge role in the experience of pain, and pain is intimately associated with depression. It's long been known that the psychic pain of depression feeds anger. But just as often, anger fuels depression.

A powerful emotion physiologically and emotionally, anger often feels good—but only for the moment. It can be a motivating force that moves you to action. But there are good actions and bad ones; it's vital to distinguish between the two.

do not murder and rob people at the rate of african americans in the united states?
Why is NewOrleans' homicide rate twice that of Atlanta?

what do 2 giant african american community cities murder rates have to do with the answer stagg posed. He said that the reason minorities thrive in the US is bc the riff raff so to speak of their societies are left in the native countries. I simply pulled up violent crime rates from india and asked him why the riff raff of india is so much less violent than the riff raff of the african american society in the US......and he vanished.

Why do you think that a race of people who were oppressed for nearly 200 years in this country didn't just fix everything on their own after a couple of generations?
Your average indian or asian in america had parents that grew up on subsistence-level farms...if they were lucky.

I am not trolling, nor am I looking to get banned. What I mean to ask is why are minorities like Asians, Indians, and Middle Easterners able to succeed at very high rates in the United States without any of the oppression african americans seem to say they are facing in this country? I know alot of very successful minorities from those 3 particular backgrounds and none of them seemed to find it hard to get into good schools, get good jobs, and overall become productive citizens. Why is it that the spotlight seems to always feature african americans and their plight with cops,jobs,education,etc....

well, black people were chased out of small towns and were unable to sell their labor on the free market due to discrimination. end result.. they were forced into urban areas and into slums. it's a real bitch for people of any color to climb out of poverty.

The people who get ahead in life are the ones that learn to be self-reliant. Every race is capable of that.

That's all I have to say about that.

Not agreeing with the dude you're responding to at all...but go visit Huntsville, AL.

You'll find tons of rednecks with PhDs in Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering

Hell I can count at least ten that I know personally

Well no. But rednecks come from far and wide to learn them some rocket science shite.

My fiance (from Seattle) had an interesting time meeting guys who drove pickup trucks, had a thick, thick southern drawl, hunted, dipped, grew up on farms...yet had post graduate degrees in engineering, physics, etc.

I think that's why I love Huntsville so much. It just kicks all kinds of stereotypes in the balls

One of my business associates was born in Rhodesia, fled to S Africa and later to the US. This man was in disbelief when he saw/realized the opportunities that existed in the US.

Basically told me people in the US are decoupled from reality. Lol!

This is my favorite misconception, so many people judge a person on enunciation and it's funny as hell when the hillbilly turns out to be the intellectual.

I think it's time to stop catering to their bullshite. Either get with the program, or get left further behind.

Would you be willing to say that to the thousands of Blacks currently living in lower middle to middle class.

Or the ones that get racially profiled because someone though they "looked like" a criminal when they have a normal life just like you. (This isnt just a police issue, but is more common with police)

I am not upset because I am defending lazy black people. I am upset because the majority you target don't suffer the repercussions, the responsible ones do.

And the cherry on top of it, is that the higher ups in the GOPe could easily stop the welfare abuse and war of poverty. But even with all the federal powers, they still will not touch it. Why has no one mentioned that.

I am not saying the DEM or GOP should fix all of Blacks problems. However, they are not listening to any of their constituents.

Because whatever the color of one's skin there are predilecting causes of crime.

Milton Friedman famously turned a Norwegian's comparison of his countrymen's successes under socialism vs those of Americans under capitalism. He shut the poor fellow down by simply observing Norwegians in America outperform those in Norway.

Environment matters.

So for example, you drew comparisons with "Indians in India." What is the crime rate of Africans in India? The point I am making is when we see urban societies of similar make up in this country with VASTLY DIFFERENT crime rates, we ought to be about understanding why that is the case rather than simply accepting the unacceptable as "just the way it is" or attributing cause to skin color.

We know American crime rates are higher than other 1st world countries even when leveled for race. We know even given our baseline national environment, violence amongst indigent communities is extremely varied. We also know we have an extraordinarily high per capita incarceration rate.

We are too creative a people to let this BS continue unfettered. There is an answer. We have to find it!
