I think that's my guy too.

Interesting to see Jindalican Angelle Davis in the race. Had any member of the Jindal machine been elected to any office?

Neil Riser I guess is going to win but I might vote for Angele Davis just for shits and giggles. I'll vote for Riser in the runoff.

I've actually been laughing at some of the ads for state treasurer. It's either piggybacking on Trump's coattails or pledging to fight some issue the state treasurer has no control over like gun control or abortion instead of talking about what they want to do as state treasurer.

State Treasurer has so little power it's essentially Lt. Governor lite. In fact, it's so powerless that you really have to admire the job John Kennedy did turning it into quite the bully pulpit to bash Jindal and JBE and get elected Senator.

Speaking of Jindal, I actually saw his wife and kids walking about at the mall of la the other day.

The wife just drove up and parked in the bumper to bumper parking lot in a 4runner with her kids with no security at all and here I'm thinking these people just lived in the Governors mansion surrounded by heavily armed state troopers at all times and never went anywhere without them and usually drove in big black suburbans.

Just really makes you think.

Angela Davis is the "dark horse" - reminds me of some of the nags that use to run at the old Jefferson downs back in the day.

I suspect she has having to raise those kids as Bobby is off chasing some ego builder somewhere. LINK

I was waiting to see which one Senator Kennedy endorses. I want a true physical conservative like what Senator Kennedy was when he was the State of Louisiana treasure. Especially with a tax and spend Governor Edwards occupying the Governors office in Baton Rouge.

John Bell Edwards has not yet met a tax he does not like and endorse.

I haven't paid attention at all. I've heard good things about Riser before as a man. I'm not keen on Davis only because she comes from the bureaucracy. I have no idea who I'm going to vote for.

This. The treasurer is just an office manager. He has no political power and there's really zero reasons why the office should even be an elected office.

I would like to know the relationship between the Treasurer and the state bond underwriters. I suspect they give the treasurer a lot of attention. Lots and lots of fees and spreads on the state borrowing at stake.

I don't live in Louisiana anymore, but if I did, Schroder would get my vote as well.

I'd even put out a yard sign for him.

Kennedy's not going to endorse anyone (unless maybe it's a Repub vs. Dem runoff) because he's making plans to run for Governor. He doesn't want to upset any large segment of the GOP base.

However, I know for a FACT Schroder and Kennedy worked more together than Kennedy did with any of the other candidates.

Angelle Davis was the Jindal Administration budget lead, and they HATED John Kennedy. Meanwhile, Neil Riser was mostly busy his last couple years as a State Senator cozying up to John Alario, Edwin Edwards's former vote-buyer in the House.

State Treasurer is an extremely important job. It's also just very, very boring to the average voter. So you have to talk about something else.

My criteria is the one who is least like Kennedy. I want a treasurer who will focus on the mundane processing and technical knowledge that the job calls far.

We do not need another hack like Kennedy, parading as a conservative, proposing cockamamie solutions to budget problems he very clearly did not understand.

I think that puts me in the Davis camp. Of Riser and Shroeder I think Shroeder may be a smidgen closer to actually being conservative, but he sure didn't o anything to prove it in the last session.
