Smoking was very popular at Cornell. I deduced that it was a thing for the well off and the lower classes. It's also a social exercise in Europe, though most don't seem to be daily smokers.

Eastern Europeans smoke like crazy.

Wolf, when I deployed to Romania a few years back I went on the advon. One of the guys on the advon with me was a Navy commander that had the same job as you. He said he went on a tour to one of the local hospitals to scope it out. He said he was walking down the hall when the doctor who was giving him a tour just lit up right there in the hospital.

Flew through Ireland several times on my way to TDY in Europe and once on my way to Afghanistan. The airport was just nasty from the cigarette smoke.

Saw something similar in Taszár, Hungary when I went there for an MRI on my hip (broke it just before I deployed to Bosnia). That is exactly what they were doing in the hospital I was sent to.

I wouldn't do that, but I'd love to be able to smoke on an airplane. Or frick, even a bar nowadays.

Hollywood actors smoke more than even they will admit. I met Salma Hayek at an event once, and she took not one, not two, but three smoke breaks during the approx 4 hour event.

I smoke. My business. Never asked for anything from anyone and have earned everyfrickingthing that I have.

I'll live my life and make my own choices.

Other people get to tell me what to do if I ever stick my hand out .

Til then (never), they can kiss my arse.

Judgmental nonfilter pot smokers can kiss my arse, too.

As long as other people don't have to inhale your poison, you're right. The second they do its no longer just "your business."

I have to inhale "poison" every day that isn't caused by cigarette smoke.

I understand why public buildings have no smoking policies, but I think it's ridiculous to force private business to do the same.

Ok, and? Y'all are setting up a false dichotomy.

Exactly, because second hand smoke sucks. And I never made any mention of private businesses FTR.

First of all, this isn't an actual response.

Secondly, it gets to the heart of your argument, which is that using a substance that harms the "commons" (in this case, air) should be prohibited, or at least limited.

If you want to start banning stuff that poisons the air (or the water, for that matter) the list would be pretty long, and it would include a lot of things that you use every day.

So why don't you take a look at yourself before judging someone else? You seem like an a-hole.

Does it really though? I've honestly never heard of anyone getting lung cancer from second hand smoke.
