I would bet the average Houstonian or Angelino is far more affected by smog -- which is a pervasive and ever-present factor -- than by second hand smoke -- which is more of a minor annoyance that people encounter occasionally and for short periods of time.

But yeah, my argument is stupid and you know it all.

Just out of curiosity how many coroners reports listed second hand smoke as the cause of death in the last two decades?

Exactly, because second hand smoke sucks.

I've generally been successful at avoiding it if I want.

Secondly, it gets to the heart of your argument, which is that using a substance that harms the "commons" (in this case, air) should be prohibited, or at least limited. If you want to start banning stuff that poisons the air (or the water, for that matter) the list would be pretty long, and it would include a lot of things that you use every day.

Firstly, relax and re-read my posts. I said nothing about prohibition.

Second, relax and re-read my posts. Where did I say the sole criteria for determining whether something should be prohibited or not is whether it poisons the air?

So, again, I said nothing about banning anything in this thread. I just called a spade a spade: if you smoke around a group of people who aren't smoking, you are doing more than just harming yourself, you are harming others. I can cite a multitude of studies to support me here.

And I ignored your car example because it was really dumb. Society today won't function without cars. Thats not the case for cigarettes. I don't think I need to expound on that any further.

And lastly, whether you have insurance or not, the financial cost of your deadly habit is not just limited to your wallet.

So why don't you take a look at yourself before judging someone else?

I'm looking at myself, and? I will absolutely judge those who smoke, especially in public around alot of people. Deal with it.

Something tells me you don't know much about the medical definition of COD as used by a ME or other pathologist. But nice try at a "gotcha" though.
