Where are all these jobs where women are paid so much less than men?

Seems like they are more politicians these days championing the cause of equal pay for women. Just exactly where are all these jobs that pay women so much less than men for the same work? I can't honestly think of any.

They don't exist. If a business owner really could pay a woman 70% of what he could pay a man for equal work, he wouldn't ever hire a man.

In all my experience n HR, I haven't seen this. I've seen women paid MORE bc they were needed to meet our AA Plan, I've seen both men & women paid LESS bc they had less education or experience... I've heard that it is a larger gap at the executive level of major companies but I haven't experienced it ever.

i'd definitely be curious to see a nationwide survey of the perception of HR professionals on this issue

You do not see it any more, it's against the law and court decisions. I've managed corporate stores[chains] and did HR for 30 years. It happened in the 50's/60's, not now. In fact, I have to make sure Blacks and Women are paid the same as everyone else, we don't even try to do it differently against women. Now, a white male can get shafted and it's OK, happens all the time in promotions from corporate,[not local].

I can't speak for the entire nation of HR execs but I'm very involved at the national level for SHRM. There's the occasional conference or article about it but many, many more about the gender gap in science & math careers. A lot more focus & money goes into recruiting women & minorities for those careers than on any income disparity between genders.
I have a very large network of HR execs (private, public & government) and that has been our biggest topic of conversation the past 10 years. I heard a lot more about gender income issues when I just started out in the 90s.

When you take the raw numbers and break them into equivalent groups - compare engineers to engineers, lawyers to lawyers, etc - there is no gap. What the raw numbers show is that there are a lot more women in low end jobs. That's it, they're not being paid less for equivalent skills and work.

I actually think a law should be passed to force women into fields where you don't see them like construction workers, miners, etc. There are few in those fields because...
This is why I hate the numbers game the dems play and cry about how women are paid less yet when we have comparable jobs, they are paid the same and often more. In advertising, marketing and PR women make more than men and you'll never hear them say it is unfair for them to make more in those fields.

What about journalism, Hollywood, and academia? Those are the last bastions of patriarchy.

I'm not aware of the difference in pay among those industries. I'll take your word for it, though.
Isn't it funny that it's the fields filled to the teeth w/ Liberals that are being mentioned?

I'm a scientist for a Fortune 100 company working with about 60 people with my section. All white men. The only women are in administration or finance

Hardest position I ever recruited for was a female mechanical engineer with sheet metal experience.

I make really nice six figure income. I work circles around my wife but she earns double what I do. I want some equality, damn it!
