support death penalty. (the process needs to be streamlined)

Support large national defense. (Peace through strength) and I know it's not a social thing ;-).

pro guns. (though I do feel there should be limits on the flame throwers many of the gun nuts want)

anti-tax (don't get me started on aca i get it it's a tax) I don't believe there is ever a good new tax. again not a social thing

Pro-life
VERY pro-gun
Support the death penalty

I also believe the government should be out of the marriage business entirely and that border security should be a big priority for reasons dealing with terrorism and the expansion of radical Islam.

A lot, but they are personal. They don't factor into how I vote.

Just for clarification would these make you a social conservative. Is there anything on the list you want to add or take away?

*Advancing pro-life and anti-abortion stances on unwanted or unplanned pregnancies
*Advocating for pro-family legislation and a ban on gay marriage
*Opposition to embryonic stem-cell research
*Some integration of Church and Education (Think Prayer in schools, Creationism in classrooms, Abstinence only Sex education. The degree varies from person to person.)
*Support for policies said to protect children from obscenity and exploitation (Media Censorship, Strong law against pedophilia, ect. Again degree varies from person to person)
*opposition to euthanasia\mercy-killing

*Social conservatives emphasize what they describe as traditional views of social units such as the family, church, or locality.

*Stuff like Gun rights, Strong Military, Anti-Tax, and the Death Penalty are just conservative/Republican issues in general right?

Another Question

Would saying states should decide Same-Sex Marriage make you a social conservative?

To me that sounds more like a states-rights conservative rather than a social conservative on the issue.

Even a lot of social conservatives oppose religion in schools. That one isn't nearly as uniform as the others.

I think condoms should be handed out by the handful. I believe in mandatory tubal ligations and vasectomies after the 1st welfare baby.

All the other usual positions -
10th amendment,
2nd amendment,
death penalty, but not if you have to spend millions of dollars in an endless series of court hearings to make it happen 20 years later,
strong defense, but not the world's policeman,
photo IDs,
reining in the TSA - profile, there's no need to feel up granny.
reining in the NSA - profile, we know who the suspects are and it ain't granny.

I'm actually okay with legal pot and gay marrage, but it's up to the state.

border security.

I think that's about it for me. Well, a few others like anti gun control (for the most part, I don't think people should be allowed to buy tanks/bombs or anything extreme), but it seems like that should technically be socially liberal (i.e. laissez faire). I'm pro choice, drug legalization, gay marriage/polygamy, gay couples adopting, prostitution, smoking in any private establishment that chooses to allow it, anti food/alcohol regulations, support a primary national defense that is only strong enough to protect borders but with a large enough reserve and intelligence to frick others up if absolutely need be, against Fedgov spying on anyone without warrants, etc...

I'm starting to get the sense that people in this thread are more Libertarian/Limited Government conservative than socially conservative. I'm disappointed KarlaCircleTiger or SEC Crazy hasn't show up in this thread.

*Opposition to marijuana legalization is another social conservative issue.

just because you are pro life doesn't mean that you have to be against the DP. It can be argued that those who do horrible crimes against humanity lose their right to life and because of this can be executed as punishment.

Pro Life
Pro death penalty

On the weed issue I think it should be left up to the states, and the federal government should recognize it as legal and stop the expensive war on drugs.

On Gay Marriage, I think the Government should stay out of marriage entirely and leave it as a church issue. They should recognize any legal contract made between 2 adults

Typical smartass answer from you. You do realize most legal gun owners use them for defense and not offense, dont you??

On everything except the death penalty.

Actually my position shiuld be the conservative position, with all the DNA evidence pointing to bad to bad persecutions , there should be no dearh penalty.

Most social issues I have no opinion about...i.e., I don't care about abortion or gay marriage. Aff Action is something I'm against but I consider it more fiscal than social. It deals with college admissions and hiring.

There is no contradiction in being pro-life and pro cap pun. Anyone who says there is a contradiction is a Nazi and believes in slavery. Because it took a whole lot of killing to end both of those threats.

I've done a LOT of research on cap pun and I'm very much in favor of it. But we need to put time limit caps on appeals. I could murder you today and I guarantee that I will die of old age before I get electrocuted.

As for the risk of murdering the innocent. It's BS. As one researcher said "When the convicted defendant is sentenced to death the defense will spend the next 15 years trying to prove he is really innocent. The prosecuting attorney does not spend the next 15 years trying to prove he was really guilty."
