i agree that there is almost no way davis wins.

but its not out of the realm of possibility that a democrat could win state wide office.

Dude, if you really thing Cruz is at 48% unfavorable in Texas then your must be smoking crack, or live in Austin - one of the two.

it wont.
the only Democrat that could win statewide would be a conservative Democrat, likely with military experience and probably with a hispanic background. that is HARDLY "going blue". is LA blue for electing Mary? What about MT, ND, and IN - all fairly conservative states that elect Democrats to state office? i wouldnt call any of them "blue".

Rick Noriega couldnt win a senate seat... if he cant, who can?

What a cute little poll by Progress Texas. Even in a terribly stacked poll they can only get Davis barely in single digits.

Texas' registration is 45% R and 21% D yet this poll sampled 35.5% for Ds and 43.3% for Rs. I wonder what the spread would look like if they didn't stack it so much for Davis? It is called over sampling and it is done when you know your are going to get your arse kicked but want some form of hope.

Hell, look at the question even in your little poll - Who do you expect to win? Abbott 52.3% Davis 25.1%. So even with the oversampling of Ds they can't get that number up. The Ds in Texas are not going to even show up at the polls and with our voter ID laws they can't cheat.

David has NO CHANCE. But keep trying to say otherwise.

You clearly know nothing about Texas politics. Texas will not be a blue state anytime soon. /thread

Ann Richards was in a completely different time, and she's quite different from the current democratic party choices. I'm not saying Texas will never vote blue (it wasn't that long ago that California went red), but it will not be a "blue state" for a long time.

Texas is a state where George Bush (GEORGE BUSH!!!) is a complete hero. And you think they are about to turn into a blue state?

Oh, I just think its reasonable for texass to go blue for a statewide office or two in the forseeable future.

It won't be "blue" for another 15-20 years.

ohhhhhh.....now I've got you figured out. You like to take the dem side of arguments because you're a contrarian. You grew up in conservative BR and feel by taking a progressive stance (though not really understanding or caring about the issues) it makes you feel more intelligent. You're a real life Brian Griffin.

Considering it won't be "blue" at any foreseeable point, you are correct, it won't be "blue" for 15-20 years, or 15-20 beyond that.

NC, you don't think Texas will get more democrat-friendly in the future?

Davis' primary opponent got over 20% of the votes and won some counties outright.

Davis is a single issue candidate and had a weak showing in the primary because voters wanted to vote for anyone but Abortion Barbie.

Dems need to evolve and be more inclusive of Pro Lifers if they want to have any hope of winning elections. The numbers prove it.

Give us the reasons why you think it will be "blue" in 15-20 years?
