Single poll eh? I feel like we just had a thread about the dangers of relying on a single poll.
I'll ban bet you she loses by 9+

Austin isn't Texas
I live here and am reminded every day how it is, in fact, still Texas.
Cali is probably the next move for Ms. DS and I.

but if the trends keep moving in the direction they have been moving in then it will.
Uh, no.
quote:
Relative to 2008 -- the year of President Barack Obama's landslide presidential victory -- Texan Hispanics have gradually become more Republican, even as the percentage of Hispanics identifying with or leaning toward the Republican Party has remained relatively stable nationwide. The six-percentage-point gap between the percentage of Texan Hispanics and Hispanics living in all other states who identify or lean GOP is the highest it has been in over six years.
quote:
While Texas has a sizeable proportion of Hispanics living in its borders, nearly half of the population (46%) is non-Hispanic white. This group has grown more heavily Republican over the past five years, a fact that no doubt contributed to President Obama's large 2012 defeat in Texas, larger even than his 2008 drubbing. Currently, 61% of white Texans identify or lean Republican, up four points from 2008.

Dems better double down on their voter fraud efforts here if she expects to maintain that single digit deficit.

I disagree. Just like the democratic party wasn't dead in 2003, they're not dying in 2014.

The graphic I posted shows how Texas is trending away from democrats
Hell the GOP edge in Montgomery County cancels out the Democrat edge in all the blue counties combined

Financial issues, I feel like they are moving in the other direction towards conservatism.
The question is, which of the two will become more important in the future?

that's comparing two distinct elections with totally different candidates and situations at two very different points in time.
The demographics are what they are and they are moving to a more purple and eventually a blue Texas. That's just a fact. Now maybe that will change for whatever reason but right now you really just can't argue it.

I lived in California(Anaheim) for 6 months and left because I couldn't take it anymore.
I vowed when I was driving the hell out of there I will never return for anything. I hate that place. With a passion.

we fit in just fine in Austin, but living in a progressive city for the first time has only lead to me wanting to live in a progressive state next.
it's like knowing nothing but black and white television your whole life and suddenly being introduced to color. And then you hear about this thing called HD.
