To help advance liberal anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-Caucasian male, anti-testosterone, anti-2functioningtesticlesthatdropped agenda I'm sure.

To the best of my remembrance, they don't do vision screenings when you get a hunting license. They also don't do personality profiling to see if you're an a-hole.
Now let's put those points aside and think about when most of the hunting is done: the early morning and late evening hours. These are times when the shifting shadows can make even the most experienced hunter question if he's seeing a buck in the distance or some dying palmetto waving in the wind.

Because sometimes dumbasses decide they want to try hunting and will o out to public land with no idea of what they are doing.
Who are these dumbasses, hmmmm.....

The thing about avoiding the hogs is good advice. Those MFers are some of the meanest and most aggressive animals I've ever encountered!

if there is hunting going on where I'll be walking...I won't be walking there.
I guess that's kind of the point?
There are trails here in municipal, county, state, and federal parks that are heavily used by mountain bikers, hikers, equestrians, and trail runners. I would hate to have to curb my use of those trails to accommodate hunters during hunting season.

Accidents happen, I shot my best friend in high school on a hunting trip.

The point of the sign is to protect hunters and their rights.

You can't be this stupid. There is no way.

So your rights and agenda supersede others huh?
Well lets see how that plays out on different levels.
There are slow people, geriatric adults, and young children that walk those trails and they should not have to curb their use of those trails due to dangerous high speed bicycle traffic, and equestrian use.
Heck all roads in and out of those parks should be blocked too because auto pedestrian accidents are too big of a risk unless pedestrians are restricted to crosswalks and the use of common sense around the roads.
Do you even have an inkling of an idea that those nature parks at the state and federal level were primarily established by outdoorsmen. Hunters and fishermen primarily. Furthermore those parks are largely supported by funds from the same groups of people?
But you go right ahead and keep thinking you are being forced by intolerable intolerant hunters to curb your access and use of those parks.

this fits so well in this thread.

of course not. nor do the rights of hunters supersede those of other users of public resources. but that's what you're asking for - for parks to prioritize the rights of hunters. that is an awfully self-entitled attitude.
if a park explicitly discourages other users to avoid trails, wear orange, or take other measures specifically to avoid hunters and to avoid being shot, that accommodates hunters at the expense of other trail users.

Why would someone who can't see shoot a gun at something he can't identify in a public forest where hikers and other hunters are likely present?

So experienced hunters will shoot at things they cannot identify?

K. Except I wasn't out there to hunt. Sometimes I just like to walk in the wood and listen to the A-10 warthogs pop off rounds. So I dunno why you're looking at me.

So its "anti-gun" to suggest you shouldn't shoot at something without first identifying what it is?
Man you've got some seriously fricked up attitudes.

Fo sho.
What do we need to do to convince hunters to kill them?
Hunters - what kind of bounty would make it worth your time to go out with some night vision goggles and kill invasive hogs?

Yeah I don't see why I need to get out of their way so they can do their hobby. They can hunt all they want I think its a great use of public lands, but unless I'm dressed up as a deer I'm not really interfering with them. Just don't shoot at stuff that isn't wild game legally in season. Duh. And if you do and someone dies how about you go to prison? When you go swimming in the ocean are there signs that say "be careful - a fisherman might mistake you for a whale and harpoon your arse!"

About 10 years ago up here in North La. there was a housewife who lived on the border of the woods where deer hunting was common.
She was working in her backyard bordering the woods. She was wearing white work gloves. A hunter shot and killed her. He claimed that all he could see through the foliage was white at the level of a deer's tail.
Don't know what the court determined. Probably negligent homicide.
