The assassination of Kim Jong Un's half brother was accomplished by VX nerve agent being rubbed on his face.

Scientific American

That's some scary stuff - crazy to think about the assassin's having it on their hands. I wonder what kind of shape they are in.

Stranger yet is that it was a fairly sophisticated hit. Not sure that we have seen that from Kim Jun Un before.

Lot of people involved, so I'd say it was complicated and coordinated. No doubt, with the VX he wanted to send a message. Should have done the poison umbrella prick like the KGB is known for. Subtler, but effective and probably would have been unnoticed at the time. Nothing subtle about VX.

The fact that they were caught by the Malaysians prevents me from calling it sophisticated though.

If it was VX, how did it not kill the assassin who apparently applied it to her hands?

Yeah par for the crazy town course. We don't really have any leverage here, it's just a matter of sitting back and observing how far this totalitarian sociopath takes it . Although I could see a day somewhere in the future where we call his bluff and North Korean missile sites get eviscerated. At some point the crazy becomes more threatening than crazy.

Its effects externally aren't even remotely as dramatic as depicted on The Rock. Your skin does bubble and turn to jelly and fall off. Of course, the internal part, yeah bad.

No idea - the reports said something about the assassins holding their hands up and walking swiftly towards the bathroom. I don't know much about VX - but I think more than soap and water is required to neutralize it.

Heard about that on NPR this morning. I found the part about them calling VX a WMD and that Saddam used it against the Kurds interesting.
