It is unseemly for the POTUS to continue to stir the pot - even if he is winning the trivial dispute. The sanctity of the overall situation is far more important than a meaningless skirmish.
But that being said - it is truly the malicious intent of the MSM in cahoots with the prog/DEMs that continues to bite and Trump's heels at every turn 24/7 that is the root cause of all this crap.
Perhaps Trump would even be a better person if he were not constantly attacked by malicious intent from every angle in the media.

I think the media would not have run with it like they did had Trump just done a mea culpa and clarified what he said and what he was trying to convey. His Tweet just furthered the narrative that he is incapable of showing any humility in the face of criticism, and that just adds fuel to the fire.
