There are tests you can take for Ebola that will detect it before you have symptoms so if they have made it this far without getting it they will be fine.
Link please. Because to my knowledge there is no such thing.

There seems to be a definite possibility that she was symptomatic a day or two before she flew back to Dallas. Since the possibility goes back to Saturday, they are monitoring the Friday evening flight out of caution. I don't think anyone will get sick from that flight.

i would guess that their suspicions might involve an unusually high measure of virus in her blood from that Tuesday morning.

You're quite the dumb arse really. If you think anyone on this board is hoping for more bad news on Ebola you are a fool and a complete hack. GTFO, I rarely get ticked off here, but I would truly love to bitch slap you right now.

No they don't

No one has checked anything on me and I have flown from DBX to ATL and back twice in the last 3 weeks.

Please stop making things up

There isn't.

You can be symptomatic or three days or longer depending on the type of test used before a positive result is probable.

If we do not institute quarantines and assign their potential referral to equipped facilities in advance, we will absolutely have more infections.

This. The outbreak in W. Africa is far from over.

My problem is that fever is a poor harbinger - how "fever" is fever, how to measure, etc. Plus the sliding scale of contagiousness - that's going to vary from individual to individual, as well. To dismiss the thousands and thousands of potential exposures now - this early - is way too premature.

There does not have to be these cloud exposures for there to be a critical mass - just 2 new infections stacked on each new infection is enough to make it geometric and in the millions within weeks.

Good news: - So far, it looks like we got a lid on Duncan's mischief.

Bad news: - We are so far from out of the woods, you can't even imagine it.

The fact that Duncan's primary contacts are in the clear is great news. Now, let's hope Vinson's poor decision didn't infect anybody. We will have several more days to find out about that.

Guess you will have to find something else to panic about eh Karla.

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing, asurob? Trolls like you can jump on message boards and lie your asses off. I've never been panicked about the Ebola situation, but hey, why waste time debating with a troll?

You know, despite the fact that there's probably never been probably a single positive exchange between us, I actually expressed sincere concern for your mother's health problems. I even asked you for an update once, but you were too busy trolling to be concerned with that.

I hope you enjoy being a troll, because Lord knows you put enough time and effort into that stupid waste of time.

Hey...there is still hope. The window hasn't closed for EVERYONE yet.

At least the window closed though on the original group, thus preventing any worm out of the point that if it's so contagious and airbourne, why is no one from Ducan's family ill?

Going to be even better when no one gets sick from the plane either.

I read today that she got okay from the CDC, both before she flew to Cleveland and before she flew back to Dallas. If that's true, perhaps the finger is being pointed at the wrong person.

Anyone who thinks that a single person here was hoping for an outbreak is beyond retarded.

Indirectly at best. Although the CDC said that she would have been OK for the trip out (asymptomatic, low risk at that time), just not back.

She talked directly to someone at the Texas state health department or the hospital according to some.

I've said that the CDC screwed up by telling Vinson she could travel. As a healthcare professional, I think the woman should have exercised better judgment, too.

I would actually say that the lady that got on the cruise was worse.

I wouldn't say hope would be the right term.

But what you would call the fear mongerers who kept insisting that this would be an horrible outbreak from the point of the first doctor come to the US?

Who kept insisting that we didn't have a clue about the virus, that it was airbourne, and would meekly ignore contrary evidence even when it was pointed out to them.

I've lost count of the predictions made in hysterics here that suddenly "were never made" after time showed how foolish they were.

Disclaimer: this isn't directed at you. I don't know if you were one of the rabble rousers.

That was the point where this was truly ridiculous. I think that rabble rousing set a number of people on edge for when Mr. Duncan arrived.

The big watch will be from today (11 days after Vinson left for Ohio through Wednesday (10 days after return flight) although we should probably be watching closely through the end of the week.
No. That is a waste of time if you are watching that. Not a single person on that flight will contract Ebola.
quote:

Do you think we will see any more infections? The 21 day period from the last flight would end after Nov 3rd.
No. Only way we see any more infections is if someone comes from overseas or someone caring for one of the infected becomes infected.

Meh - the disease wasn't here before. They could have been isolated and treated there, remotely. It's done, now.

I do think the pump was primed. Even though travel restrictions would have prevented/would prevent or at least reduce the risk further, the response has been, probably, more on the side of concern because of the previous intentional importations of the virus.

So there's a chance I'll make it through the Ebola crisis alive?

Even if you get it, you have a ~30% chance of surviving it - even higher if you're white or asian.
