President Trump said Wednesday that the White House would stick to its position in an upcoming Supreme Court case that could strike down Obamacare in full.

'We're not doing anything. We're staying with the group, Texas and the group,' the president said in the Oval Office.

Wednesday was the last day the Trump administration could provide the Supreme Court with a revised position on a case, backed by a number of Republican-led states, which could see the entire Affordable Care Act law invalidated by next spring.

Per Chief Justice Robert's own rationale in the original decision,

it is the absolute correct legal call.

His own rational is dictated by public opinion not the constitution.

His legal reasoning was that the ONLY reason the ACA was Constitutional was because the individual mandate was for all intents and purposes a TAX.

So, when you strike the individual mandate, as Congress has done, you strike the only thing holding the whole thing up,

and that is according to the Chief Justice himself.

Roberts is the 2nd worst appointment by a Republican in my lifetime.

The winner of the absolute worst appointment was David Souter.

That is 100% correct and Roberts will still rule that Congress has to remove the law. He will hide behind keeping the court Neutral.

Reasoning will likely be either (1) the individual mandate still exists, it's just that the penalty was set to 0; or (2) The original ruling was on the constitutionality of the mandate and that hasn't changed - Congress simply amended the statute.

I'll be very surprised if it gets struck down. And at this point it'll be like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube (or for bammers, trying to unbreak an egg).

I really wonder if Republicans have actually thought this through. There are a lot of provisions of Obamacare that are extremely popular i.e allowing kids up to 26 to stay on their parents plan, end of pre-existing condition restrictions, no lifetime caps on treatment, all plans have to cover certain basic services. I get that they have all campaigned on repealing Obamacare but you gotta replace it with something and they don’t have any plans in place.

As in the tax or the healthcare? Because it was passed as a tax if you didn’t have healthcare the way it was argued, I thought.

John Paul Stevens deserves some consideration. He was appointed by Gerald Ford.

And they are going to be screwed at election time if 10’s of millions of Americans lose their health insurance overnight - which is what will happen if the SC strikes the bill down

It's absolute garbage insurance and not worth the paper it's printed on unless you use a lot of healthcare. The deductibles are so high, that you practically need something catastrophic to happen to meet it. Until then you are paying out of your own pocket for all medical services plus your premium each month. It might make certain people feel good to say they have insurance, but in reality they are getting absolutely taken to the cleaners each month

Spineless republicans had many opportunities over the last decade to repeal and replace, and didn't. Supreme Court takes that into consideration. No way they strike down the ACA at this point. There's nothing strike-downable.

Even worse, this just gives fuel to the fire that "Republicans will take your health care away" during an election year.
