As in the tax or the healthcare? Because it was passed as a tax if you didn’t have healthcare the way it was argued, I thought.

It was written as that and argued in court as such. The dems out politiked the repubs by telling them it was a fine and the stupid shits went along with it.

When it got to the Supreme Court the dem lawyers said “hey look at the language it’s a tax” case over.

Obamacare that are extremely popular i.e allowing kids up to 26 to stay on their parents plan,

This is partially what makes family coverage unaffordable.

I could only support it if, the parents still claim their children as dependents if they are disabled with no working income or a college student with little to no income.

Otherwise, make them or their employer buy insurance if they earn enough or check for eligibility for Medicaid.

I can remember when colleges had their own health insurance student fees that could be used as basic coverage to see a doctor on campus and limited hospital coverage.

That’s a bold call in an election year
Reducing the massive cost increases and decreased choice associated with Obamacare insurance is a bold call?

The supreme court won't rule on it before the election so this really doesn't have much political downside

That’s the fundamental problem. What recent college grad starting out is going to want to pay a hundred or two hundred dollars a month for something they won’t even use. Insurance markets are viable when they have people who don’t use the product pay into the risk pool. If you give a person in their twenties or thirties (ie the people least likely to use the product) a choice they will more often choose to forego purchasing it. That’s the fundamental problem Republicans have because they repealed the individual mandate and don’t want to pass a plan that has one but cannot find a practical solution to force young healthy people into the buying health insurance.

Per Chief Justice Robert's own rationale in the original decision, it is the absolute correct legal call.

Yep.

Roberts painted himself into a corner trying to force a "political" solution.

Guess what, John? There was a political solution - the only constitutional leg for this legislation (by your own words) is gone.

And...there's no severability clause.

Considering the Constitution has not been amended since the Sebelius decision, if he changes his mind, he should be removed from the bench.

Roberts is the 2nd worst appointment by a Republican in my lifetime.

And in retrospect, looking back on W’s presidency from the perspective of 10+ years, it was no accident. It was exactly what W set out to do.

Which, the original ACA legislation having originated in the Senate (IIRC), made it unconstitutional on its face. Violation of the Origination Clause.

So the answer was to get parents to buy it.

I am just sorry the insurance game is a game.

You have hospitals that charge on paper outrageous rates to get to a deductible faster, so the patient has a higher burden to pay out of pocket. Then once the deductible is reached, the hospital collects pennies on the dollar because their negotiated rates are much much lower.

Hospital wins because the patient is paying more.

Insurance wins because they payout less.

Patient loses because he can't afford both.
