We just got the notice that all regulations being sent to the Federal Register are to be halted, and that any that were just passed, will need to be re-approved and/or that their deadline is to be extended for another 60 days.

As someone that works in the environmental field, not sure how I feel about all of this.

Good. Most of it is just political fat. These people are using this money to fund bullshite programs that are actually funneling money to their friends. The BS is coming to a halt with him in charge.

This is why you need the EPA. Stupid people need help understanding complicated things.

That actually sounds like a prudent course for ANY change in the administration, no matter what "side" one leans toward.

Yeah, I guess. Just kind of a headache dealing with it in the interim.

I don't know how you should feel since it's your career field, but you may want to start looking to a different field if this is any indication on the future.

ETA: But as udtiger stated above, as a taxpayer and a consumer, it's music to my ears.

I was told this is something that normally occurs during an administration change.

Hopefully, Trump opens up drilling off of the Florida panhandle with little ability for federal oversight. That would be a nice prize for that area's support of his candidacy.

There is no drilling there because the State of Florida does not want drilling off their shores. Get your facts straight.

Well, there was a great push by all agencies to get out anything they had been working on, in hopes of beating the new administration. It is cutting both ways.

Of course not. But when one of your first actions is to cut $1B from the EPA's budget, that doesn't scream job security to me.

And it never hurts to keep your options open. Just saying.

The Gold King Mine Disaster is why people can't stand any more help of the like provided by the EPA.

Libs will say he's gutting the EPA and hates the planet. The fact is that there is so much bloat in these agencies that he could cut $2B and if the services are streamlined there will be no services cut.

Troof. Problem is, no matter what party is running the country, have you ever seen government run "streamlined". Here's hoping it happens, but I'm not holding my breath. In government, it always takes just a little bit more money than they are currently allocated to operate. Take any money away and they act as if they can't function at all.

I'm not a fan of the political nature of the EPA, but at the same time I do lean towards protecting the environment where there is legitimate concern. So there is a need for oversight, just not what it's been for so long.

Government can be efficient. It is all a product of the people involved, and the craziness of the rules handed down by Congress.
