If local officials don't feel comfortable declaring it safe to drink, how can they feel comfortable charging residents for it?

Do any of these people actually own the homes though?

Sounds like you could be screwing a lot people who rent their property to tenants.

Also, if the water these people are paying for is unsafe to drink, then I don't blame them for not paying.

the real issue with Flint is that it has been completely mismanaged for decades. the 2013 City Council and mayor were dealing with the problems of the past. the EM was only appointed because of the utterly consistent failure of this local government

because they've already made deals to pay for it and they're beyond broke. they can't just stop charging now

You realize the rest of the country is saying the same about Louisiana too. They are tired of giving the state billions over and over again.

Around these parts, water is being stolen by blacks and electricity is being stolen by poor whites.

It isn't a political statement.
