I think there's another thread on here right now, which is asking people what they hate most about politics.
This idiot's slanderous attack on anybody who is white, conservative, Southern, etc. is a perfect example of what I hate the most. I mean, liberals can engage me all day on the issues, and the conversation can even get more than a little intense, and that's fine with me.
But, this Saul Alinsky-style attack mode is reprehensible. Most people don't seem to understand what I'm about to say, but one of the goals of political correctness is not only to provide protection for certain groups, but it was also focused on creating a universal mindset that certain other groups are evil, racist, stupid, etc.
We see that on this board all the time. A poster can lay out, in specific detail, 15 reasons why Obama has been an abysmal failure, and the majority of dissenting posters won't even debate the details. You'll just get the usual slanderous remarks that this writer generically touches on.
Mary Landrieu lost her job when she cast her vote in favor of Obamacare. Now, did she also suffer because she voted with Obama 97% of the time? Of course she did. But, if somebody thinks it's wrong to oppose Obama, why can't they defend him with specifics?
Slandering conservative, white Southerners simply because they are conservative, white Southerners is about as bigoted as it gets.
Oh, the irony.

This is an interesting reaction considering how many yankees have moved from the northern and midwestern states to the southern states. The south no longer consists solely of people there from birth. There's been a decent population shift from the north.

Quality post. It made me think of the diversity in my life which I never do nor do I believe is necessary. I am who I am and my friends are who they are. The most important quality to me is to try to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Something Michael Tomasky does not do with southerners or conservatives. It appears he only gives people of his kind the time of day. What are those people called? Hmmmm...

I did not click the link, because he doesn't deserve it. I do, however, admire his writing ability. He's a helluva writer. Too bad he's such an angry little man.

And that is what Louisiana, and almost the entire South, has become. The victims of the particular form of euthanasia it enforces with such glee are tolerance, compassion, civic decency, trans-racial community, the crucial secular values on which this country was founded… I could keep this list going. But I think you get the idea. Practically the whole region has rejected nearly everything that’s good about this country and has become just one big nuclear waste site of choleric, and extremely racialized, resentment.
Oh that's good stuff. Delish.

Looks like the new liberal mantra is that if you don't vote Democrat, then you are a racist.

Feel free to post it . I'm not signing up for that shite show.

There's nothing new about this bogus mantra.

Yeah, it's a catch 22. I thought shining a light on his bigotry outweighs the number of clicks that he might get from it.
The same can be said with many columnist. Krugman come to mind.

But guys, he has a point. Everything good about this country is obviously what being liberal is all about. Like letting millions of illegals live here tax free while getting free stuff, letting people sit on their arse and have the working man provide for them, and forcing everyone to think a certain way. What is not to love about that?! And besides look at all the racial strife and rioting by black people in the Deep South. Oh wait.... Nevermind. All of the civil unrest seems to be every BUT the south.

all of this for one lousy vote on Obamacare...
b/c ML would still be Louisiana's ranking Senator if not for that vote

Huh?
I wonder if this guy has even read the founding documents.

Where is this Northern Liberal Paradise that the writer trumps as the community on top of the world with enlightenment, diversity, and free from "southern oppression in all forms?
Is it Detroit (which went bankrupt 2 years ago and can't even keep its lights on)Michigan with Democrat rule for over 50 years? Could it be Chicago with its Democratic rule and most oppressive gun laws, they must lead the nation in lowest violet crime rates in the U.S right?
It must be Missouri with their Democratic Governor, no racial issues or problems I am sure. The town the protestors practically burned to the ground, must have been on the Arkansas side of the River, definately what Southerners would enjoy doing.
We know NYC is the crown Jewel of the Progressive Lean forward types. I mean damn a majority of police officers are Minority so their couldn't be any Racials incidents whatsoever in such a bastion of Liberal enlightenment and diversity.

One of the most intolerant, bigoted, closed-minded, things I've read in a loooong time.
It's odd. Many believe that right-wing conservatives are the source of division in this country... read that article... and it's clear why America is so divided. And it's the people he suggest. It's him (for one).
