I'll concede your point ... there are basically some worthless clingers that are allowed to hang around until retirement that may or may not be able to do jack shiite in the private sector.
On the flip side ... many ex-military excel in the private sector because for anyone worth a shite, it's easy to run circles around the average civilian.
And, many regular joes would either not be qualified or not have a prayer of succeeding in the military. These are typically the folks that go around saying stuff like, "I was gonna join the Marines, but .... " ... or just openly mock the military ... and, deep down, just know that they could never hack it.
"I coulda gone to Annapolis, but ... " .... yeah, I hear that one alot, too. Sure you could have. Maybe you could have. But ... you didn't.

I can say without a doubt that the majority of the men and women my wife and I serve with are upstanding individuals who take their occupation seriously. Proud to call them my brothers and sisters in arms

What you have to understand is that most of the posters on this board are "military experts" even though they have never actually served in the military. However, if those "military experts" had served they all would have been Navy Seals, no doubt Team 6.

I was in a US Army engineer unit.
Where'd you do YOUR Basic?

22 years so far in the Army, 9 on active duty the rest in the reserves, 05, two one year tours to Afghanistan and a one year tour in Iraq, two Bronze Stars and a Combat Action Badge among other awards.

Career military men never have to grow up. They just get really expensive toys to play with. Still cussing and scratching themselves, bitching about women. Professional sports players have the same thing going. I was a model actor in this regard when I was in.
