You realize in the thread yesterday ex marines, seals, army men were all saying that everyone tries to duck into a building or a car in order to not have to stand through colors, dont you?

Many do stay in the building just before colors, I've never seen anyone duck in a car and hide, the custom is (or used to be) you got out of your car and saluted and I doubt many brag about avoidance.

I think the bigger issue is her publishing her stunt on social media.

The consensus of the ex military men were most people avoid colors if at all possible. The posting on instagram was however extremely stupid. But to the people in this thread that think the ditching colors mean she cant serve properly, must be worried considering most do this

I agree with that completely. I responded to the people who were making it seem uncanny someone would purposefully miss colors. When is seems it is rather common

Yeah, I would be interested to know her MOS. It's obviously not in intelligence.

That is a response created by a society that has less than one percent of its population fighting its wars that have lasted for 12 years.

But we are all supposed to believe that the entire nation is "war weary."

Weary from what ... for the masses ... who knows?

Maybe this notion:

quote:

we all are supposed to act like every person in the military is some kind of Audey Murphy/George Washington-type that does everything for God, country and honor.

When really ... most in uniform don't care what cilivians think or do ... but, if anything, would just want to be treated with a little respect and no disdain. Nothing more.

So you'd have our combat troops be made up of stupid, disrespectful soldiers?

It's extremely common.

Most personnel on any base I have been to usually time their entrances/exits from buildings and cars to keep from standing through the colors (myself included).

Kinda silly to post it on social media, but I'll refrain from lambasting her for something that's just a fact of life on base/post.

It's more than silly...pretty fricking stupid.

And, more than likely, she will regret it.

I was in the military for 4 years, and it's chock full of idiots like that.

Support the troops.

Oh yeah, paperwork is in her future.

Not for dodging the colors. But for dodging them and being a dumbass about it.

If saluting when you're retiring the colors is too much of a drag for this young lady, I wonder how she'll react if she has to deploy somewhere.

I just like to take this opportunity to thank our brave men and women in uniform for their sacrifice to keep us safe.

Here here.

Pay them whatever. You could never give them enough benefits.

Would you like to say something Olympic hero?

Oh I not hero. Dey heros.

clap clap clap

bet the cut in our troops won't affect the ones like this.

This would probably protect her from being cut, even if she was on the list.

It would resemble 'retaliation.' = couldn't have that

The bulk of the military isn't made up of America's finest. There's a lot of people making a career out of the military because frankly they'd be hard pressed to have a career in the private sector.

When I was a non-rate when I first joined the Coast Guard there was a saying my Master Chief used to say that applies to military life.

"You can be stupid, but you cant be stupid and brag about it."
