So true. I live in Florida. I vote in Florida. I have a Florida driver's license and am always asked to show it or some valid picture ID before voting. I do not feel intimidated. I have never turned away, nor have I ever walked away from the poll without voting. I don't understand how this very politely asked question, "May I see your ID?" is in any way off-putting for anyone, or discriminatory.

Of course, I am a white male, and just filled with all kinds of privilege. But then, all the more reason to simply give me a ballot on my own recognizance. Right? Umm... have my civil rights been violated because they don't just hand a ballot over to me, just because?

If it is too burdensome to travel to the Office of Motor Vehicles to secure an ID then the same must be true of getting to the polls on election day.

There is no way one can be true without the other also being true. Any statement to the contrary is a lie, plain and simple.

The cost of a Louisiana issued state ID is $21 for 4 years for people under 60 and FREE for those over 60. That's $5 per year to maintain identification - affordable even for a homeless person.
