The IRS has records and is now coming back on families for unpaid SS taxes from the 60s but can't find emails from 3-5 years ago?

Do we not have any true justice anymore?

I am no computer expert, but I have been told it is damn near impossible to delete an email, as long as it went through a server. (whatever the hell that means)

As mentioned earlier.......time for the NSA to actually do something positive and provide the emails.

I bet the IRS hasn't lost my last 2 years of tax information. Or better yet, what if I told the IRS I lost my last 2 years of tax records?

Nice. If you don't keep a receipt for 7 years and the IRS nails your arse but they don't have 2 years worth of emails from a department head...

My interpretation is that it's actually far more likely for the IRS to accidentally erase all of *their* internal e-mails, due to a server problem on their end, than to have lost the stuff to and from an external server, which is what they claimed has happened.

Sending it externally means it traveled somewhere else and, as a result, should be archived at DOJ, FEC, White House, etc.

Someone needs to check Hillary Clinton's office. Missing documents have a way of ending up in her possession.

You can't truly permanently delete from a computer without completely physically obliterating the hard drive.

Yet their emails are gone from a "power outage"?

I call bullshite.

We need to revisit the era of mysterious deaths of that era now gone. At least temporarily gone.

I very seriously am curious to see if the non-political-junkie public will care about this at all.

This I what I'm saying.

Somebody with sufficient tech skills can recover them.

It's *possible* for it to happen, but it pretty much means the tech guy has to commit career harikari.

If they, say, had the e-mails on a striped RAID (splitting data across multiple drives for speed and security purposes) with insufficient backups, a permanent failure of one drive would leave them without enough information to reconstruct what was on there.

Even then, just short of the drive platter breaking in half it is possible to recover a large amount of the data in question if they were willing to do so.

Two simple solutions:

1. Get the emails from the WH (emails are like Rick Perry, they go both ways).

2. Call in an anonymous tip to the FBI claiming Lois is a pedo and sent nudies of first graders through her email. They'll find it then.

Any person that receives a check and especially those of us who write them checks should be concerned about the IRS "losing" data, even if it is only internal data.

It's like watching a kid break something then look at you and say "I didn't do it!"

Seems like this would require an astonishing amount of either incompetence or corruption.

It's just a little bit too convenient that the emails that are "lost" are the very ones being sought.

It's almost like the administration is giving Congress a big ol' middle finger once again.
