Opioid abuse is the drug epidemic of our times since all the suburban kids like to shoot dope like the fiends of the 80s. I know way too many people, rich upper class suburban kids, that have died off Heroin ODs.
The sympathy and concern for them is there unlike the inner city fiends of the 80s

I have no sympathy for them and my brother is an addict.

I had the same thing happen to me years ago. I was driving at around midnight. I had a Chevy Blazer at the time, my son normally drove, big tires etc.
I had just stopped at a bar, had not gotten out the truck, but spoke to a friend that was standing by his car. I had had nothing to drink all night and was at an out of town meeting, just getting home
Cop pulls me over after I left the bar, said i was swerving I said no I wasnt. I'm cold sober.
He puts me to the tests walkning in a straight line, touching my nose and asked me to take one hand and count to 5 using my thumb. I used BOTH hands and counted to ten and backwards, never missed a beat. he then asked me to say the ABCs,; I did that and asked him if he wanted to breathalize me. He gave up.
Not that it made any difference, but he was black, I was white, neither of us was an a-hole; I obeyed him in every way I could. We both survived the encounter.

Our court system is set up to put the burden on the state to convict. Do people really want to change around the system to get the result they want?
We want less incarcerated people but the standard to convict needs to be lessened?
