The Case for Scalise

I thought this needed its own thread bc I keep getting downvoted for saying it needs to be Scalise. It needs to be Scalise.
I get it. He’s part of the establishment. To some extent, unfortunately, we need an institutional republican. It will lend some credibility to Roy (who is clearly the brains behind this operation and who has been steadfastly reasonable).
Scalise’s pros - I haven't witnsessed him going back on his word or otherwise welching on a promise. I could be wrong, so please enlighten me.
For purposes of the instant thread - I think the major case is that Scalise would probably agree to some of the most essential demands. I think it politically helps him to have LESS discretion, which is what these demands of our brave 20 have sought. This is bc if times get tough, he can make Gaetz the bad cop when he’s “stuck” doing "radical" shite like allowing floor debates on important bills and investigating the Deep State. The tough decisions are already made in the name of restoring order.
Furthermore - Scalise is not from California. I know Louisiana is bonkers, but I had a political science professor once who characterized us as liking to periodically give the bird to the rest of the country when we vote. That is accurate. SOH is wayyyy more high profile than whip- if he fricks over St Tammany on national television, he’ll have to relocate after he’s unelected. Just think about how we are about our football coaches. Louisiana is not an easy crowd. We're usually drunk and worse when we're pissed and losing.
I think that Trump or Donalds or someone needs to make a deal with McCarthy that he can be the Whip if he steps aside and nominates Scalise. Or some such. What's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with that.
If the establishment finally sees Kevin dead in the water and Scalise gets an inkling of support from the 20 I see the establishment breaking for Scalise to get this over with. The question is, how will Kevin save face and not be totally humiliated?

Come on now. That’s just dopey and you know it. The southeast is loaded with RINOs and charlatans. I know this because all of you talk about them.
A swamp dweller from Louisiana is still swamp.

These people need to be willing to hold his feet to the fire and not let themselves be swayed by largesse crumbs. I don’t have a ton of confidence, but it’s something over McCarthy.

There is a difference between a self reliant Louisiana baw swamp dweller (literal), and a slimy corrupt Washington swamp dweller (figurative).

I believe this is the strategy. The total humiliation of Kevin McCarthy is what we will witness. His humiliation will discourage such activity of his as GOPSOTH of any future GOPSOTH!!

The 20 suggest an exit ramp to Scalise for him to suggest to McCarthy.
Something that makes it looks like it was McCarthy’s idea.
That’s the key. Finding something that will appease that slimy soulless lispy man that still prevents him from doing any further damage.

I agree. While I would prefer that the Republicans not hold a majority in the House, Scalise would be an effective speaker.

Scalise should be talking with the 20 now--get a deal and then approach McCarthy. McCarthy can then tell him what would be face saving.
I think if the 20 go with Scalise the rest will have to follow suit.
The risk is adjoining for the weekend and McCarthy cutting a deal with the dems.

His silence when the elections were stolen was all I needed to see! He is just another establishment Rino prick

Scalise is pretty terrible but taking down McCarthy would make a huge statement and deliver a clear message to Scalise and the rest of the gang.

He was one of the ones who voted to not certify election results.

I get a sense that is what is happening. At one of the votes today Donalds and Graves were meeting. The Louisiana delegation isn’t doing shite without Scalise

Ok - but I’m bookmarking this just the same for when it happens.

It may happen, but you don't need to say it.
