Excerpts pulled from the American Rifleman's The Armed Citizen blog which you can find here.

Jun 9 - Tyler, TX
quote:

After a father and son saw a man pull a knife and threaten a woman during an attempted robbery, both drew their concealed handguns and put a quick end to the misdeed. The two armed citizens in Tyler, Texas, had been driving through a shopping center parking lot when they witnessed the trouble. With two guns aimed at him, the would-be robber gave up and got down on the ground. The armed citizens held him at gunpoint until the police arrived.

Jun 12 - Austin, AR
quote:

Early one evening, a Good Samaritan was returning home from work when he saw a fight between two brothers nearby. He immediately reported the incident to law enforcement. However, when he realized the severity of the fight and that one of the brothers had stabbed the other, he retrieved his handgun and held the assailant until police arrived. The armed brother was charged with first-degree battery.

Jun 16 - New Castle, IN
quote:

Early one morning, a family awoke to the sound of a trespasser banging on the back door of their home attempting to break in. The homeowner grabbed a shotgun and held the intruder at gunpoint while his wife called 9-1-1. The individual was charged with residential entry.

Just more proof of the necessity of the 2nd amendment. More citizens with guns means less violence. It's been proven repeatedly, but some people still won't listen.

While I don't carry, I completely agree with the NRA when they say that the only way to stop a bad guy is to have a good guy with a gun.

The NRA has to say that because they are in the bidness of selling guns.....

Every example offered in the OP required a weapon wielding perp to begin with.....one breaking the law.....assault and apparently knocking on someone's door....

The weapons they had were knives in every example, so.....what is your point?

What's your point, people break the law? That's why law abiding citizens need guns you regressive douche.

German, one of the ways to define freedom is allow individuals to protect themselves and their families (others). When you start to limit the way in which an individual can protect him/herself, you are taking away their freedom.

You are insinuating that the Armed Citizen is similar to the penthouse forum. If you chose to believe that these stories are fake, good for you. HOwever, if it happens once that someone protects his family, then it is worth it.

I thought that was a funny comparison.....

How disappointing that you left off the largest and second-largest gun-related events of the week.

Unless the good guy is black.

One of two events was stopped by good guys with guns.

The point of the OP was to show people like you that guns are used for good and to save lives, in contrast to only the newsworthy examples where bad guys use them to take lives unlawfully.

And the point you constantly ignore is that this isn't true - a good guy with a gun was killed by another good guy with a gun, and there are no consequences for the murderer.

Both officers who protected Scalise were black. I think everybody on this board were glad they had a gun.

They aren't.

Besides, Obama sold more guns with his executive orders and language than probably anyone has in decades not named Bill Clinton.

Ammo manufacturers made a ton of money when they started trying to hurt the ammo industry.

New companies started up all over the world to produce ammo.

Lots of sales tax money raised there.

Here's one they missed...
quote:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man found shot to death Wednesday morning inside an apartment off St. Johns Bluff Road South had been trying to break into his ex-girlfriend's apartment when she shot him, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Michael Turner, 33, broke a window at the Club At Town Center Apartments and came into the apartment of a woman he knew, and she shot him multiple times with a handgun.

Police said the woman has been a victim of domestic violence in the past. They took her in for questioning and released her.

News4Jax found that Turner was arrested on a felony domestic strangulation charge last year when police said he strangled his then girlfriend and punched her several times until she lost consciousness. The charges were dropped the next month.

The woman in that incident was the same woman police said shot Turner on Wednesday. News4Jax is not naming her because she was a victim of domestic violence.

More citizens with guns mean more insane people with guns. Guns aren't going away and neither is insanity. Both seem to be growing from my perspective. Just relax and accept the status quo.

Violent outbursts like we saw this week and in the recent past are becoming normal. Just accept them as part of American culture. Its too late to really change this. There is no reasonable way to curb the number of guns or the number of the insane.
