Neither am I, but who are these "real conservatives" you speak of? If not them, then it must be someone who was not part of that caucus. Who are they?

eta: you sure use the term "cuck" a lot for a non-Trumpkin. I thought that was their thing?

I didn't downvote but my guess is that the bill presented was so far from the Freedom Caucus' values that it was impossible to support, even in a "don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good" way.

If Trump and Ryan came out next week and said we could get single payer because they had a shitload of guaranteed Democrat votes, what would you say?

What makes both sides of this argument right, though, is that the Freedom Caucus will almost certainly throw another hissy fit on other issues like tax reform, if they don't get their way 100%. They just happened to be on very solid philosophical ground this time.

They don't exist. The caucus is a joke because its members are too stupid to realize how to govern. They intentionally blew up a massive tax cut for American citizens and businesses.

And I just like to use the vernacular of Trump fans when it suits me.

Our government was built on compromise and pragmatism. The freedom caucus is anything but those and thus for important events like this, they do nothing but grandstand.

Except when it contradicts what some mindless HFC drone wants to believe at this precise moment, even they might agree with this one statement: "Ronald Reagan was a true conservative." I am certain (maybe most) HFC members hold him up as the ideal role model of conservatism. Well if that is so, I must then wonder what they do with this next statement: "Ronald Reagan was a true conservative and he was pragmatic."
The HFC has blown the most golden of golden opportunities, for the sake of conservatism without pragmatism. Which means they have embraced being politically unable to govern and have rejected the Reagan model entirely. Just plain dumb.

I don't even get why the Freedom Caucus is getting so much heat. A number of moderates also opposed the bill(really the thing wasn't even close to passing) and the bill also had some major hurdles if it got to the Senate.

It was just a pathetic mess of a bill that was rushed through before any kind of consensus around health care could be found. Ryan and Trump are the key people to lay the blame on, any kind of real leadership was lacking big league.

They are fairly new group, think they formed in 2015. Their first big thing was going to war with Boehner.

Politically they are very similar to Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

Ted Poe's district (TX-CD2) demographics:

37.1% White

11.7% Black

8.0% Asian

30.1% Hispanic

0.43% Native American

12.4% other

Ted Poe is the first Republican ever to hold the 2nd Congressional District (which of course, has been realigned through the years).

He's feeling the heat.
