if you filled every seat at a table and the limited seating in the bar you might could seat 170,There are few tables in the photos. People are standing around eating and drinking. It's a different floor plan from its regular menu service.
Perhaps they didn't open the back room or the side dining area and had the even tin the main part of the restaurant.
Perhaps the owner donated a fixed amount of food and beverage and capped the attendance at 150?
Who knows and who cares?
People here are making too much of the event. It sounds to me like it went well, but in the overall scheme of things 19K isn't going to overcome the muscle city hall has behind it.
And your point about the signatures is real. If they are struggling now, they might not make it.

So why did they take the time to "announce" their change in strategy?
So announcing how many signatures was the strategy for SG?
quote:
And that's not counting the days they've had organizers sitting outside grocery stores in the area asking for signatures. It is NOT word of mouth.
That's exactly word of mouth, dipshit.
quote:
Word of mouth, or viva voce,[1] is the passing of information from person to person by oral communication, which could be as simple as telling someone the time of day.
And since you love arguing in semantics, i will define more clearly what i meant. The SG organizers with their "small group of supporters" gathered 10,000 signatures in 4 months without a large multi-media effort. Meaning, townhalls, WORD OF MOUTH, and negative press against SG are the main reasons people know about it. The efforts underway now, are to pay for more advertisements, media, and lobbyists for the cause. I predict there will be a significant boost this coming year in the amount of people that sign and know exactly what is going on in the SG area.

At least dd recognizes in his post that capacity was not an issue in the small turnout.
Again, see my post above. Common sense would easily eliminate 90% of your posts on this thread.

These people are raising money with the intention of affecting change in a ballot measure.
Yet, they are registered as a for-profit company. Is that even legal, without full disclosure of income and expenses?

With all of the opposition in city government, i'm pretty certain, if there was anything inappropriate it would have been discovered by now.

Owner of LL set the number of tickets to be sold. He donated everything that was served at the event. He was gracious enough to allow the 150. If he had allowed 300, SG supporters would have sold 300.

I suspected that was the case. Thanks for clearing that up.

quote:The Port Allen mayor recall drive had 25% of the voters' signatures in less than 3 months, from June 7, 2013 to September 4, 2013. The SG petition is 4 months old and only has a little more than half of the 25% they need. See the difference??

Link to where organizers said they couldn't sell more tickets.
It works both ways.

The Numbers are no longer being released to keep the opposition to SG in the dark.
10,000 signatures were gathered in 4 months with minimal effort. This is just getting started with more advertising and petition drives to come. SG Will be on the November Ballot 2014.
also, the LL fundraiser was held there with the cooperation of the Owner(A SG supporter)whom donated food/drinks/staff for the night. 150 Was a good number for this, the first of many fundraiser events.

How does that help the organization effort?

Anybody know why they will no longer disclose their numbers??
They all have their own lives - jobs and kids and such - they don't have time to count signatures.
