Senior Senate Democrats wary of wasting resources in deep red Alabama might be forced to reconsider after fresh polling showed Doug Jones competitive with Republican Roy Moore in a December special election. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was evaluating whether to invest in the race after Roy Moore, a fiery social warrior twice kicked off the Alabama Supreme Court for nullifying federal court rulings, defeated Sen. Luther Strange in a special GOP primary runoff.

I can't wait to see Moore go after the Establishment machine on the floor of the senate.

If the Dems jump in here all they do is ensure a loss.

I think Moore is so controversial that a well-funded, moderate Dem candidate could pull off the win.

That said, let the Dems not spend money where they could win and waste money where they have no chance. And keep spending more than they take in, while the GOP outraises them by 2x or more.

Moore winning will do more to hurt the Republican brand on a national stage than just about anything I can think of.

I'm sure the Gumps will not disappoint and he will be elected.

Should be an easy win right?

Oops, the progressive platform is still socialized medicine and traditional America sucks. Better start hedging bets.

In 2014, Democrats lost the white vote in the Deep South by about 65 percentage points, 81 percent to 17 percent. That made white voters in the Deep South 61 points more Republican the country as a whole. In 2006, whites in the Deep South were heavily Republican, but Democrats stood a fighting chance. Republicans won Deep Southern whites by about 30 percentage points in the 2006 House elections.

wanna bet?

you can't win a single state wide election in the united states of america with less than 40% of the white vote. she got 37% it'll be 25% by 2020 .........cause black lives matter, he/she bathrooms, and crapping on the flag are so popular!

there's no such thing as a moderate democrat and even if there where they couldn't win among democrats.

It is probably more likely that the dems dont have the money. I have read several reports that their fundraising is very poor. There are probably a few high schools in Texas whose football programs raise more money that the dems have lately.

(Rats and a sinking ship...)

Maybe they are saving for 2018 to defend some of their seats that republicans will be wanting. They may know that their polls are never right and that they will lose either way.

Dems failed to realize that hitching their wagon to fringe groups will cause the money to dry up. Inner city minorities and college age liberal white people dont have much money and the ones that do aren't likely to donate.

Their long time source of funds was white working class and unions. Unions are losing memberships and power and union members are leaving democrats in droves.

Meh, that's what the Democrats said a few short years ago. How long do you the think the GOP will cling to control of all three branches??? Given the ineffectiveness of this Republican congress I'm gonna say not too long.
