Is this really your best response? I could've made 50 better arguments on your behalf, and I don't agree with your stance.

I agree. But the government shouldn't be involved. Books, plays, and museums existed before we all got conned into funding them with tax dollars.

CheshireHog, do you know for a fact that every person in the US has access to the internet? Even those who are homeless can afford a tablet or laptop and have access on the streets? Widen your horizons and open your eyes.

From hearing some of the poor speak and seeing test scores, I'm pretty sure they weren't taking advantage of libraries anyway?

How about the military, corporate welfare, The police dept of ed, SS, Medicare all be ended as well.

1. End the military? Hyperbole much? There is definitely waste in military spending that needs to be addressed, but first we need to get back up to speed.

2. Corporate Welfare? We talking tax break incentives or the government actually giving money to a company?

3. The police dept of ed - don't know what this is. I assume you mean you want to end the police and the department of education. I can agree with one of these. Ending the police would just result in areas being policed through other means. Super strange that you called for ending the police and the military. This seems incredibly stupid.

4. I'm all for social security going the way of the Dodo bird, and am totally open to reworking Medicare because it's a totally broken program that is pushing up healthcare prices across the board.

What's shocking to me is that you think Republicans are FOR all of these things. The only ones you listed that have the backing of everyone on the Republican side of the aisle are the police and military.

Uh, if they're living on the streets, they have bigger issues than lack of internet access to deal with.

Everyone in the US has access to the internet. You can walk into a McDonald's anywhere in the country and get free WiFi for use with your Obamaphone, but you could also just go to a library and use one of their computers. Every library I've had access to has had at least one internet-enabled computer since the early 2000s.

Every single government department needs to be cut.

Edit- Cut as in they need to have some funding cut. Not completely cut.

As someone who has actually done professional theater work, the NEA provides a smidgen of most theaters' funding. Most theaters get funding from donors, non-profits, and state-based orgs.

Furthermore, the artistic community has been producing work that makes fun of and insults conservatives for some time. They constantly complain about not having money and losing audiences, but then turn around and produce work that alienates a large portion of their possible donor base.

Furthermore, major theatrical companies and productions (Hamilton being one) openly campaigned and held fundraisers for Clinton. When artists cross that line, they are no longer artists; they have become propagandists. They have aligned themselves with a political party and, when that party is not in power, they're going to feel the sting of budget cuts.

Well, maybe if you read Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, you would see that none of those things mentioned are part of the federal government's enumerated powers. Those programs are the responsibility of state and local governments.

Master craftsmen produce exquisite products that are enjoyable, satisfying and evoke thought and emotion. In doing so, they create saleable products that pay bills.

Performing and visual artists do EXACTLY the same thing but somehow their products transcend the need to be economically self sufficient because some ethereal greater good to society is delivered through their work.

100% pure unadulterated bull shiite.
