And still, none of his malfeasance would've gotten any real exposure had the city not flooded so soon after the statues came down. THAT was his misfortune. It exposed him.

It was perfect karma for abusing the trust of his constituents and the powers and privileges of his office.

If he's truly stupid enough to run for President, a lot of people are going to beat him over the head with this and he will have no good answer for this that doesn't involve admitting the truth and apologizing for it but he won't do that because he's a Landrieu and they're about as shameless and corrupt as it can get.

In addition to the incompetence shown by the leadership of the S&WB with him as its head, and all the others appointed by him, he's been sitting on over $140,000,000 from the HUD National Disaster Resilience Competition, which was given to the City after submittal of the design work to build what was supposed to be the Mirabeau Water Garden; a proposed network of retention ponds landscaped to resemble a water garden and designed to help Pump Station #4 alleviate flooding.

Interesting, all that money in response to a design submittal for a project that was to cost 30 million dollars.

The first phase of this project was supposed to be completed this year. But nothing has been done on it other than the original design.

It was supposed to be built on 25 acres of prime Orleans real estate at the corner of Mirabeau and St. Bernard Avenues near Bayou St. John, owned by the Congregation of St. Joseph who leased that property to the City for $1 a year for 99 years.

Wonder if they're second guessing themselves on that deal.

When recently asked why nothing has been done yet on the project, his response, "The project still needs an environmental study done on it," and that he was "worried Trump would take the money back from them."

Even if only the first phase had been completed, it might have lessened considerably the recent flooding on both sides of DeSaix Blvd. and much of the flooding along Harrison Ave.

Jefferson Parish has already shown the utility of retention ponds, and doing it with far less money than Orleans was given.

Money has been pouring into here since Katrina. Lack of funds should be way down on the list of excuses available to him. Notice, though, when his back's to the wall, he's always able to come up with the money.

The recent flap revealed that some of those pumps have been down since Katrina.

I'm sure there are liberals hoping for a levee failure so they can call this Trump's Katrina.

The top priority of any mayor of NOLA is to make sure the bowl shaped city sitting under sea level doesn't fill up with water. That's number 1 on the "Don't frick Up" list. Well, he fricked up. What a waste of energy.

You're in Texas. Why don't you worry about how this is gonna affect Dallas and leave NOLA to us to worry about, huh?
That sounds awesome! Bookmarked for the next time NOLA floods and you guys are screaming for federal funds.

Why specifically aren't they all ready? I just read he said 105 of the 120 pumps are working. I don't follow NOLA politics at all, so just wondering how much of it falls on him, or if the City Council has gotten in the way, of it's a failure across the baord.
I can see as many as 5 or 6 being inoperable, but 15? Once you get past 5 start putting in some rush orders. Damn.

I wonder why the pumps aren't ready. Maintaining those levees, gates and pumps should be the absolute #1 priority in that city without exception

Not to mention with hurricane season on the horizon.

There's really no excuse. He's been a blithering idiot since this happened and his best excuse as the President of the S&WB is "they didn't tell me about it."

As am outsider, it is astonishing to think that with all the billions spent on drainage improvements after Katrina, that this is even an issue.

And then I realize that large swaths of that money are administered by politicians, in the state with the crookedest government among the 50.

So where did your hurricane bailout get blown, Louisiana?
