That was my next question - if the city owned the S&WB or if it had its own board and management.

Sounds like a mess.

And he's blamed everyone but himself up to this point too.

Oh, and another higher up blamed Climate Change.

It is your typical shite show of Prog leadership in a diverse community.

No, there's no statute of limitations on harping on utterly pointless government waste and stupidity in the face of corresponding incompetence. It's certainly longer than 3 months if there is. Sorry.

So Bourbon Street is a mess just before football season, he wasted valuable resources to take down statues, crime is still infesting the city and water pumps used to pump water out of a frickING FISH BOWL OF A CITY are not ready just before the peak of hurricane season. How in the frick did this mother fricker get elected mayor? How many dicks do I have to suck to get a position like that and be allowed to be totally worthless?

ETA: spelling and shite

Well it's certainly one of MANY reasons...including the mayor placing incompetent political contributors to KEY positions !
WHERE else, would YOU place the "blame" ???????

You must be the type of person who paints the outside of the house before fixing the leaky roof.

Don't be obtuse. The city budget and what it is used for is certainly related.

Actually it's quite the contrary. When the flooding of the city happened a couple of weeks ago it made it the PERFECT time to talk about the statues. It showed exactly what Nola residents were saying, including myself, stop wasting money on useless bullshite and focus on higher priorities.

That is still relevant today as hurricane season is still among us, a hurricane is close by, and we still have failing pumps.

You are either purposely disingenuous, or at the very best completely naive and short-sighted.

willing to spend and waste millions of removing statues instead of spending of more important things like infrastructural and improving the cities flood prevention equipment...

But Old Pandering Mitch will be the first one with hand stuck out asking for the Federal Government and the taxpayers to bail his arse out again. Trump should tell him to go get fricked.

For the sake of clarity on my previous post:

If the statue issue never came up, are we all 100% sure the pumps would have been fixed?

If not, then the statues are irrelevant to the pumps. That was my point.

You do realize that New Orleans was paid 2 Billion, to fix this and if flooding of the city was the main cause of the Katrina damage, wouldn't you think this would have been the first place the money was prioritized?

Who knows?

All that's known is that the pumps weren't his priority. Taking down the statues was.

As far as I'm concerned, that's criminal malfeasance.

Is New Orleans really expect to get much rain from this? I'm to the west of NOLA and I'm not expecting much.

Pretty sure this is all CYA. Nobody's real sure what Harvey will do just yet.
