It speaks pretty poorly of him if that is genuinely the case, given his commentary on this topic over the past month.

Beats being what I call the "necrotic bowel bitch".

You have a cold? Tax is surgery.
Stubbed your toe? Cut it off.
Can't poop? Take out the colon.
They definitely arent by the book treatment types

We've always found surgeons to be very odd. Very touchy/feely about their patients and wanting to do very strange drug regimens that aren't so much evidence based as "I did this once and it worked"
Definitely a different breed of MD

Holding and manipulating necrotic bowel while the surgeon operates isnt my favorite part of third year.

Still better than the derm folks:
1. If its dry, wet it.
2. If its wet, dry it.
3. If its not supposed to be there, cut it off.
4. If none of the above fit, steroid cream FTW.

I love when I get to tell my sister (ophtho) that she is wrong about something.

Unnecessary shot. Surgeons usually know their medicine. Its the orthopods that are clueless

Eye surgeries gross me out. Like, I don't get how people do them so casually. Much respect though.

To be fair, only the orthopods pretty much ditch general medicine altogether.
