And if a politician stands up to say and says what needs to be done he's voted out and demogogued to death
Probably my single biggest complaint about national politics. Unless you're for increasing or expanding "X" you're labeled as someone who hates or is anti-whoever benefits from "X". This is rampant among both sides.
I've told the story on here a few times about the republican congressman from GA who wanted to drop the US army/national guard sponsorship of dale jr's stock car (21 mil/yr). In his words, he was labeled a "military hater" by fellow republicans.
This is why a true libertarian will never make it on the big stage. Wayyyyyy too easy to demagogue them to hell and back. For an example of this, check out Lawrence odonnell's interview of Ron Paul. Paul's opposition to the CRA is discussed and whenever Paul attempted to explain why he takes his stance Larry essentially sticks his fingers in his ears and screams over him "YOU'RE RACIST! YOU'RE RACIST! YOU'RE RACIST!"
