re: So, Hawaiian judge of EO fame, graduated in Obamas law class, and was appointed by Obama

quote:Obviously a person who was an army reserve captain, attended Harvard as an undergraduate and law student, was a partner at a private law firm in San Francisco, was a federal prosecutor in California and Hawaii, and was a Hawaiian native couldn't have been qualified to be a federal judge in Hawaii and relies in nepotism instead. And he must have been close to the entire Senate too, since they confirmed him 94-0.
Well, if you can get your classmate to appoint you, do you really need to be qualified??

Well of course you don't... when it's convenient.
I mean I can show you hundreds of posts that show I have problems with big government, federal overreach, etc.
But ehhh who cares about all my statements, and your lack of any support for your's. Obviously your creation of my previous positions, now means I magically held those positions.
What nonsense.

Yeah, this Judge and Janet Yellen both.
Sad!

And maybe you should be the Secretary of Agriculture, and I can be the Deputy Secretary to keep you in check during dairy season so you don't overrate the seasonality.

Yes. And when I run for President, I'll have the other Buckeye guys give me advice on polls, and Fairhope give me advice on political strategy. Just do the opposite, and I'll be golden. Appoint you as Treasury Secretary, and make Russian work for you.

quote:Well at least you can you were the first to post a ridiculous conspiracy theory. And it gets more absurd.
Don't steal my thunder, OP. I broke this story first this morning.
1. So he flies to Hawaii, but because he was not there or because he always vacations there, but to write a legal opinion.
2. And nevermind, he's never been a judge, and has been spending the last decade in the other branches of government not doing judicial work; clearly the guy who is actually a judge can't do it himself.
3. And nevermind that an ex-president can't exactly vanish from plain site and go incognito easily, or they the judge is probably getting more than usual exposure making it harder for him to go unnoticed.
4. And nevermind that the media is also converging onto that area to report on the decision, making it that much harder to go unnoticed.
5. And nevermind that given all that, it would have been not only nearly impossible, but extremely risky to meet in person, so communication was likely not face to face.
6. And nevermind that we live in an age where people things can be communicated thousands of miles away as they can the next street over.
7. And finally nevermind that he was able to write the decision, and thus far kept an actual proof completely hidden, BUT he wasn't able to outwit the intent sleuths who were able to figure it all out without any actually proof besides possibly being within 5 miles of one another (see he's easy to find).
Given all that, THE ONLY logical conclusion must be that Obama wrote the opinion because his own appointee was incapable of doing that, despite a blueprint from a case not even two months ago which had many of the same arguments.

Yeah, that Judge and Obama are guilty as hell. You're coming around finally.

quote:Come on. I'm the poll guy. Incidentally it's my statistics background that she me argue the dairy seasonality since the variation wasn't near as signicant as the seasonality data for things I've modeled in time-series analyses.
I'll have the other Buckeye guys give me advice on polls,
I could already visualize the trend with a limited number of data points, which is often not the case.
But hindsight, I think both our positions had merit, mine was more macro (focus on the broad trend; seasonality was just a small factor) while your's was micro (understood that small seasonal variations, probably aren't do small to the indivduals in the business).
In fact, I think this highlights problem with government and policy. They focus either on the Marco or micro, but not both when you need to know the overall effects and can't ignore those that may be detrimentally impacted even if it's a small percentage.

But it's just getting annoying see you all run with these conspiracies, and despite their completely illogical basis, just confidently accept them as fact.
But what's more annoying, is that we are all relatively limited in our understanding of many things discussed on here; in this case the legal proceedings and process that occur well before the case.
Yet, despite the novice standing, you still so confidently accept the illogical stance, but you don't bother to even take the time to learn about the topics and see if challenges your conclusion.
I mean you all may be geniuses, but the lazy reasoning and conclusions that conveniently confirm your biases, is a waste of that intellectual capacity.

And Obama happened to fly to Hawaii for the decision
Sorry, but this stinks of collusion far worse than anything Russia related
A.) Obama grew up in Hawaii. I can't imagine why he'd go there; other than to influence law.
B.) Do you really think he'd personally "fly in" for something like that? I hear they have phones in Hawaii, too.
C.) thousand of legal scholars are in agreement that Trump's EO is unconstitutional. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. But the opinion that it should be overturned is not exactly unique.
D.) you guys really need to put down the tin foil. You sound like a terrible action movie.

What I am going to enjoy, after SCOTUS throws all this judicial activism in the toilet, is seeing all the fit throwing when ICE rounds up every one of the ones that got in because of the stay.
And kicks them out of the country.

Obama, like everyone else, admires efficiency, and success. And Hawaii is a lot nicer place than Washington or Chicago in mid-March.

Now you're talking Coast To Coast AM conspiracy theory fare. Take off that tin hat; there are no black helicopters or Giant Triangles.

This "judge" needs to be removed with the quickness.
Or, perhaps, transferred to Guam.

the judge made his ruling based on comments and not based on the EO. Some of the comments he cites in his decision didn't even come from Obama
Once the judge cited comments that Rudy Giuliani made on the campaign trail, someone in the Congress should have entered a motion to impeach
How does that enter into the discussion of a travel ban EO?
