So basically Trump said "F You" to GOPe on the debt ceiling?

That's awesome. Why would Trump wait 18 extra wasted months waiting for the GOPe to make it past their elections unscathed? This forces Congress to work on tax reform, DACA, wall funding, and other important things without having any excuses for the midterms. F You GOPe. Get to work or get the hell out.

I'm trying to figure out the logic on the 18 month waiting period. Can someone lay it out for me?

Is the Freedom Caucus now GOPe too?

Is all of the GOP now the GOPe?

It's the truth.

When Bill Mitchell, Mike Cernovich, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, and every MAGA'er on this board agree with Trump - that means he's doing the correct thing.

GOPe is basically now any Republican who doesn't grovel for Trump.

Trump haters (Decatur and cwill from the left, Half Cajun from the right) continuing to try and pit Trump's MAGA base against him. It's not going to work. You are all banding together and saying that we should be pissed at Trump, but we're not.

His move makes a ton of sense. Lou Dobbs summed it up perfectly in his commentary last night.

Yeah, Lou Dobbs hates Ryan and this was a slap in the face to him. However, you have to remember that the Freedom Caucus is not happy with this either. You can rationalize this as a nice Ryan troll, but the Democrats got what they wanted, didn't they? What's the long-term strategy here?

the narrative is that the democrats will just use this as leverage again in three months to force something else they want, else they will not raise it again. The same old political game. Extending it to 18 months would take away the football so to say, so the Dems couldn't play that game.

I think that probably is the truth from both sides. That is what the democrats want to do, and it's what the republicans wanted to prevent. Neither side cares at all about the actual topic at hand, just manipulating the political game and using the debt ceiling as the ball.

The long-term strategy is Trump sticking it to people who piss him off. That's it.

You are absolutely correct. It should be embarrassing to you to admit you that you have no policy goals, you are only devoted to Trump no matter what he does. But I know you don't have the self awareness for that.

Pretty much. Not sure why everyone is so hell bent on reading the politics into this move. He's telling Ryan and McConnell he's sick of waiting for them to send him legislation to sign, the long-term consequences be damned.

A) Hold GOPe accountable for doing literally NOTHING for Trump for 8 months and make them fix things rather than slow-walk agenda (which is what they wanted)
B) Get some favourable press for reaching across aisle
C) It's the right thing to do in the face of the hurricanes
D) Light a fire under the GOPe arse and make them do something meaningful with Trump now that he's shown he can work with Dems

I think he is 100% correct. Weakass Pubs aren't getting shite done despite holding a majority in all branches. He would be stupid to agree to an 18 month CR deal. Make those assclowns explain to their base why they haven't done jack shite.

frick the Freedom Caucus. They're the reason that we still have Obamacare if you look at it a certain way. They have done nothing to expedite the tax reform (and they want to do the same bullshite trickle down thing that Bush tried and didn't work).

Great - so Trump designs an infrastructure spending plan with them for next time and makes the GOP come to heel. Win/Win/Win.

Absolute bullshite. I am not a pure conservative which was part of the appeal to Trump for me. I like his free agency to make deals with both sides. I am pro choice, I am anti-war. I am for some protectionism on trade. I am for taxing the top 1% at higher rates (just to name a few of my non-"conservative" positions).

Yes. Going to be funny to see Trumpkins saying those that don't support the Schumer-Pelosi position are not true conservatives.
