Now they aren't even saying the Dreamers were brought into the USA illegally. They are simply being called "immigrants" who lack legal status or legal immigration papers.

quote:

Six immigrants brought to the United States as children who became teachers, graduate students and a lawyer sued the Trump administration on Monday over its decision to end a program shielding them from deportation.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco alleges the move violated the constitutional rights of immigrants who lack legal status and provided information about themselves to the U.S. government so they could participate in the program.

quote:

The lawsuit joins others filed over President Donald Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which has allowed nearly 800,000 immigrants to obtain work permits and deportation protection since 2012.

quote:

Immigrant advocates praise the program for protecting immigrants who were raised and educated in the U.S. despite their lack of legal immigration papers.

Someone needs to explain to them how one actually receives constitutional rights.

We don't live in a serious country anymore and this shows that. The fact the we even have a discussion about the possibility of making everyone who just waltzes over out border a citizen is insane. They should all be deported.

This isn't actually stated in the article, fwiw. Quite possible the plaintiff listed as an attorney is not, in fact, practicing.

The attorney for the plaintiffs is not one of the plaintiffs.

The illegal/attorneys name is in the article. A quick search of the California bar shows her active and practicing in Chula Vista.

Basically? What legal rights do they have to citizenship?
If I squat in Mexico long enough, would they grant me citizenship?
