Why do you want that? Seattle is awesome.
No, no it's not. I live in Washington and trust me- the problems are many. Homeless are everywhere, traffic is a fricking nightmare, taxes are gross and the people are pretentious assholes.
Yes, I realize I just described most major cities but there's no way I'd live there. It's ok to visit (I guess) but it's not some national treasure worth saving.

Suburbs about to flourish

It used to be. I really hate what's happened to the city. It's full of pretentious sociopaths.

Taxing the rich would only ever be a short-term solution to the multitude of problems that people want to use it for. Eventually you run out of rich people to tax because: A) They are no longer rich; B)They leave and move elsewhere because of the taxes; C) They move their assets around and keep them from being taxed; D) It kills any will for a rich person to spend more money on creating new business opportunities, and thus, jobs.
What is the solution when you don't have super rich people to tax? You tax the current upper middle-class, and then you work your way down until everybody sees a tax increase.

I hope this is the downfall of Seattle.
Interesting. I can understand thinking that it will be, if you're the type who thinks all taxes are bad, but hoping? Why? Why on earth would anyone actually hope for the "downfall" of a city? I disagree with every damned thing Donald Trump has done since he won the election and firmly believe his policies will have terrible negative consequences overall, but I sure as hell HOPE his policies help the U.S. and its people. What kind of fricked up person would hope for the worst just to advance some idiotic political narrative?

And 15 upvoters to just 1 downvote. (soon to be 2)

And then finally you have a classless society and utopia. A good thing IMO.

When has there ever been a classless society in the history of the world?
No leaders and everyone has what everyone else has?

There has never been one, doesn't mean we can't try to strive for it.

If they raised Howard Schultze's taxes then he's gonna raise the prices at Starbucks and I'm gonna be pissed.

That is the most stupid thing I have seen today. Venezuela is already there

Many rich people in the area already live in Bellevue, Kirland and Redmond anyway so I am not sure if this will work. Knowing them it will shift to all of King County then statewide.

So now a shite ton of people that make over $250,000/yr are going to move to avoid that tax.
It's not clear to me how they are going to make it work. If it's based on your residence, you're right, a bunch will just move out, but then I guess many will have problems selling an expensive home. Who would want to buy a home in an extra 2.5% income tax neighborhood?
If it's based on earning your income in the city what can you do? And what if you work in the city for only part of your time and your paycheck comes from a head office in another city?

They have to be skewing these numbers somehow. This figure would seem to imply that in Seattle the rich have a significantly lower tax rate at 5.1% (city and state) than the poor at 15.5%. Don't know if I believe that.

There's no income tax, so the majority of the tax burden is through sales and excise taxes. Sales taxes eat up a greater percentage of income for the poor than the wealthy.

I knew I was looking at it wrong, work day is now over thankfully.

The government will never be agile enough to beat/outsmart business and wealthy people.

Are there any other municipalities that charge income taxes? One positive of Washington state was a zero income tax.
