It's 2.5%, and Washington doesn't have a state income tax. It won't be.

South Carolina should plan now when Boeing decides to move more airplane work, they have the inside track.

And Governor Abbott should plan a few trips to get some businesses to move to Texas.

I support this. Not because I support taxing the wealthy like it's a punishment to be financially successful, but because I want to see this fail miserably and (hopefully) be a lesson to other states.

Leftists in the state have been clamoring for a state income tax for years. Was always a big issue when I was there. This is the first step toward a state income tax. Also cost of living, sales taxes, gas taxes and property taxes are high

Many rich people in the area already live in Bellevue, Kirland and Redmond anyway so I am not sure if this will work. Knowing them it will shift to all of King County then statewide.

You think this is bad wait until they get rent control through

So now a shite ton of people that make over $250,000/yr are going to move to avoid that tax.

A disease I tell you.

Last one out turn out the light. Just like the 70's.

Those Starbucks hipsters are going to have a rude awakening when the contributors move out again.

Seattle and State of Washington are about to waste plenty of tax payer money in court. Seattle's income tax is against the state's constitution.

It takes times but policies like this end up in driving all the wealthy people away.

Doesn't happen over night, but it's a drip drip drip effect.

Exactly

This is meant to fail

They will use and channel that outrage of the measure being killed in court to a ballot measure to amend the WA constitution to allow income taxes.

I was riding with my then boss through southern Kansas listening to Rush on the radio around 1997-99 and a caller from the Seattle area was pretty interesting.

The caller stated he and his wife invested in low yield stocks/bonds and quit their multi million lifestyle and took sub 6 figure jobs (leaving much higher positions) since they had all they wanted in hand already. They sold their McMansion and bought a rural cottage large enough but without being "prestigious" or "ostentatious".

Why?

They got tired of supporting the freeloaders!

They purposefully and methodically planned a way to lower their taxation by around 75% just due to being sickened by the misuse of their earnings to support crap.

Now those are great Americans!

So just outside the city limits is the sticks? They didn't leave civilization, they moved away from the uncivilized beggars, fascist wannabes in office out there, and the unwashed heathen tree hugger libtards.

They took control over their lives, took their toys and moved to where they could enjoy their self earned assets without someone always sticking their hands in their pockets looking for free shite.

For what, exactly?

Ignoring their State Constitution?
