Thank you sir. He's a long way from me, but his wife is by his side...thanks.

Just yesterday DirtyMike was telling god Steve was just fine.
Steve was doing terrific so DirtyMike was not wrong at all for saying that but concerns about an infection have been the biggest concern. His PT is going to be delayed with this infection but he has fought through this before and will fight through this again. He still has a series of future medical surgeries ahead of him too so I'm looking at this as just a small speed bump in the longer journey Steve has ahead of him in his fight to recovery.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is peritonitis/sepsis status-post intestinal resection.
The infection is Peritonitis which is why they downgraded him so quickly. They caught the infection in time but still will take awhile for the medication to do its work.

Father God,
I come to You and ask that You help to dispel larry289's fear.
End his anxiety.
Wipe worry from his mind.
May the doctors and health care workers help his son find a way to recovery.
Give larry289 shelter and comfort in You.
Grant him and his family restorative sleep tonight so that they may have strength to face tomorrow.
Amen.

Thank you EKG and all for the notes and prayers. Intent wasn't to take away from Scalise information. Using board tonight as a stress reducer and have followed his topics. Then saw the word sepsis so my way of expressing sympathy to his friends as I now know the seriousness of this issue first hand.

Piecing all the stories together it sounds like his intestines got shredded by bullet fragments. Wouldn't be surprised if this is peritonitis/sepsis status-post intestinal resection.
SSI or some non-surgery related HAI are most likely candidates. Hospitals are dirty places.
Good luck to him!

Prayers for you Larry
We just went through the same thing with my step childrens father. It was touch and go for about a week while he was induced. He pulled through and is doing great.
Keep your chin up I know it has to be tough.

Best wishes for Scalise and Larry's son. My kid brother died from sepsis 3 months ago. It is bad stuff.
