Piecing all the stories together it sounds like his intestines got shredded by bullet fragments. Wouldn't be surprised if this is peritonitis/sepsis status-post intestinal resection.

Infections in open wounds of that size is not something to frick around with. I'm just praying that they don't amputate his leg.

My son has been in ICU since 7/1 with Septic Shock due to pneumonia. I read a little on sepsis and realized the seriousness immediately. He was brought out of induced this evening. Touch and go, but a good sign. Praying for him, can't go and eating me alive.
