Who gives a shite if Obama went to a racist church. Conservatives aren't in competition with the lowest common denominator in politics. It's a matter of principles.

Scalise fraternized with white supremacists and he has lost credibility. He could not contain the story and now the dems can place him with David dukes group. He is damaged goods. He has no moral or political authority because he hired stupid people.

As far as the dem Cedric Richmond. He's a joke s and exactly how will him vouching for scalise will help him with republicans leadership?

He's an embarrassment to conservatives and he will be the example of the gop not taking seriously expanding the voting base.

He spoke to David dukes group for chrissake. Think people.

Damn. That's a classy move on Richmond's part.

He can afford to be magnanimous while watching Scalise go down in flames. There's no downside for him. BTW, the Scalise story led on the network news tonight at 5:30.

He's going to have to give a pretty honest mea culpa if he is going to survive this.

Ah, yes, those beleaguered republicans, always being picked on by the news media.

He gone...

It's a shame because he is really likes by the House Republicans. There are double standards and Scalise should have vetted this group knowing it could be used as political ammo.

I've never heard of the group and I suspect that many more haven't either. These people speak to 4-5 groups a day everyday. He isn't racist. He also spoke at the NAACP event in New Orleans--so how do we define him now?

This world is crazy. Has he been seen or heard doing anything racist since 2002? If not, to me he seems clean.

But evidently people who think like me aren't pulling the levers of power out there.

This is an example of the lowest form of "gotcha" politics I've seen.

The double standard is SO fricking enormous that it's impossible to not see it. Anyone, ANYONE, who makes a big deal about this exposes themselves to be an intellectual fraud, and a lying political hack.

Besides the fact that he denounced the group's ideology and has shown no sign of racism over his many years of public service,

- Speaking to a group of people does not mean you espouse their beliefs.
- Why is it more illegitimate for a group of white people to talk about policies that harm them than for any other group to do the same?
- There should be More focus, not less, on the abuse of "community block grants" which are essentially unfettered cash payoffs to black politicians with no accountability. Steve Scalise is a man who was in a position to know full well the abuse of power and the purse excercized by criminals such as the Bill Jefferson gang.

The libs in this thread who are banging the gong for Scalise' removal are mendacious hypocrites. Disgusting!

(edited for misspelling mendacious)

It's good than some people on here know what mendacious means.

This. Lol at the people saying he has no political or moral authority now. No doubt the left will play this up to serve their interests in any way they can, but that just makes them look all the more laughable IMO. Chickenshit conservatives who would bail on Scalise and try and force him out over this is what truly sickens me. Completely capitulating to the left's propaganda machine like cowards. That's what's really pathetic.

I couldn't give two shits about listening to the left's advice on how to manage out own leadership.

You discussing what conservatives are (or should be) about is laughable.

Go pound sand, DA.

Listening to you advise conservatives on how to act is a bit like listening to Nick Saban advise Les Miles on how to beat Alabama.

The same folks who wonder why blacks vote overwhelmimgly Democrat and can't understand why Republicans are viewed as racists are the ones defending the white supremacist. go figure.

Heil Scalise!

He has as much chance remaining whip as he does becoming the next pope.

@ mahdragonz

Please tell me you are younger then 35. If you are older, you are a hack, if you are younger you have no understanding of the context of the Louisiana Republican Party in the 1990s when David Duke was kicking the crap out every Republican in the state and had only whites voted in either the Governor or Senate election, he would have won. A majority of whites in the state voted for Duke.

Sure by 2002 Duke was in decline as more "respectable" Republicans assumed his messages, and he was less then a year away from going to prison. But this event occurred in Metairie where I'm sure Duke still had significant backers and where Scalise was now representing.

Stupid- Expanding the voting base was not Steve Scalise's issue in 2002.

When people ask Steve to speak to them, he just comes. Never inquires about who he is addressing because all people are equal. A true man of honor.
