Question is completely relevant to the people in this thread claiming he was innocent. You are on a different topic.

So your concept of justice is evidently - guilty until proven innocent. Because he most certainly did not receive a fair trial which proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Keep in mind you're talking to someone who clearly never learned basic civics or history, so things like being presumed innocent before guilty ( a staple of our common law) are well beyond his simple world view. Not everyone was fortunate to receive a basic education.

Should post pictures of blacks beating a helpless white man during the LA Riots?

How about pictures of corpses of individuals killed by black perps?

No race has clean hands.

This is the furthest he will ever go towards admitting that some blacks may have been harmed unjustly in the South in our American history.

I guess we can take that as a victory.

Why are you taking this so personally? The anger is just oozing from your posts.

I will review your links at some point if it is that important to you.

Advice: In the future care less about words on a message board.

You're looking like a dumb arse in this thread. You should let it go.

The daily racism, sexism, homophobia, and general xenophobia on the PoliBoard might be pretty abhorrent to most people.

I study criminal justice. It's a subject I deal with on a daily basis. The fact that an innocent person can be killed, and people defend it (whether in this case, or others like it) gets me worked up.

My understanding from what I have read so far:

He was the last one seen with the girls
He led the authorities to the murder weapon
He confessed to the crime
His family told a different story

Technicality? Fine, throw it out. Innocent until proven guilty? Sure thing sign me up.

Screw just swallowing this glob of white guilt without asking questions about the evidence though. Had this same thing happened to a white kid almost none of you would have heard about it because it wouldn't be trumpeted far and wide.

here is what happened. The two girls went by his house when he was working in the yard with his family. They asked where they could find a certain type of flower, and then the girls left. He did not leave with them. He was not 'with the girls.' Later, when the girls went missing, he was part of the giant search party who went with them. You believe that a confession obtained from a 14 year old who had no access to his family or a lawyer while being grilled by a bunch of hillbilly detectives all day is valid? I have some land in Cameron parish to sell you.

The only evidence linking him to the girls' death was that he was seen talkign to them earlier that day in front of his house. That, and the evidence you have conjured up in your mind. Oh, and the murder weapon ? A 20 lb railroad spike he wasn't even capable of wielding.

Isn't this based off statements made by his family?

I honestly don't care about it that much beyond the whie guilt angle mentioned above.

The laughable irony of this stupidity is that in this thread we have been informed that a)the proceedings were proper according to the laws of the time and b)we're not just swallowing this recent court dismissal without asking questions (although very clearly the dismissal itself is proper according to the laws of THIS time.

There are no witnesses who said he was ever 'with' them, period. The only witnesses said he was seen talking to them, at his house, which is indisputable. He did not leave with them.

LINK

You keep asking me to discredit his family. There have to be credible witnesses suggesting something else (that he was not actually at home, but left with the girls or was with them when they were killed) in the first place. There aren't.

Literally, the only evidence was that he a) was seen talking to them at some point that day and b) the 'confession.' If you bother to read the article I linked, they allude to a widespread belief among the community that the real perpetrator was someone related to one of the girls.

He is in serious denial. I wouldn't doubt that he would try to justify Emmitt Till's death if given the chance ("He probably tried to rape her or something!")

Another bit of irony is that those of you who are implying that others are racists are using the race of the jury to form your opinions on their motives.

By virtue of their white skin they were unable to fairly mete out justice right?
