Washington Examiner? @dcexaminer
NEW: House leadership considers ditching Obamacare regulations to woo conservatives (link: LINK ) washex.am/2mW8CId

quote:

But a House leadership aide told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday that Republicans received new information from the Senate, indicating that axing the regulations wouldn't automatically doom the bill from being considered on an expedited basis.

House Speaker Paul Ryan's office is now more open to nixing the regulations, known as "essential health benefits." Under Obamacare, all insurance policies must include ten categories of benefits, such as maternity care and preventive coverage, that make policies more comprehensive but also make it costlier for individuals who would prefer cheaper plans with fewer benefits.

Is competition beyond state lines for insurance companies in the bill?

It's been badly needed for a long time.

It's a damn shame Republicans can't even get it together to get rid of Obamacare. This was an easy layup that has turned into a cluster. Trump needs to quit trying to pass a bad bill and get this shite right.

Why in the hell were those regulations not cut when this bill was freaking written in the first place? And don't give me the crap lie that they thought it would cause the bill to have to get the 60 votes. They didn't just now learn that it wouldn't trigger it. What in the hell was Ryan and his crew trying to pull?

So he's waving the white flag on repeal and replace and going with something that can and will be filibustered if it passes the House?

Competition beyond state lines

The hidden opposition to this is big insurance itself. Think about why this has been said said for so long as an obvious fix, and it NEVER becomes an option or sees the light of day.

Big insurance is trying to figure out how to game the system through a very unAmerican socialist plan and shift all attention away from free market plans.

Some states already have this and it hasn't really done anything.

This is a hot potato and the best thing is to let it die in the "House of Lords" (US Senate).

Well, it's hard to filibuster a bill that can't even get out of the House

I mean the Bill is dead in the Senate even without a filibuster even if it passes the House-- as is it wouldn't get 40 votes.
