I think Elba would make a cool Bond but I don't see how people wanting the Bond franchise to keep James Bond as originally written are racist.

The reason is not bond being portrayed by a black man, but having a really good bond on the screen. And idris elba is a fricking fantastic actor.
Can you name another english actor that could do that role? They likely won't be as good Idris elba. The role should go to the person best suited to perform it and frankly I can think of no one better than Elba at the moment.

this wouldn't be the first time the franchise has deviated from how it was originally written. Where was the outcry then? Oh right there wasn't any because nobody gave a shite then. But all the sudden throw a black guy into the mix and everyone becomes a Bond purist. But it's not racism. right.

Have read the books? Literally the only thing in common between the books and the movies at this point is the characters name is James Bond, and monte penny.
There hasn't been a james bond story that actually mirrors the book since the 60s. Artistic license has already been heavily employed at this point.

lots of sexists had a problem with Judi Dench being M. But she was the best M in my opinion. She nailed it.
eta: I bet very few people here have read the bond books.

Are you serious? Everytime they announce a new Bond there is an outcry about it since Roger Moore took over in the 70's. Most recently I remember a lot of bunched panties about Pierce Brosnan and even Daniel Craig. You know nothing.

There are plenty of good white actors who can portray the James Bond character.
Even if they are not Scottish, a good white actor would have no problem learning to speak with a Scottish accent.
