He's right about this. Authors make up characters and those characters have nationalities and physical traits that are essential to them. To change the character's race simply for PC reasons is silly.

Making James Bond black for the sake of making a point is dumb. But ultimately the entertainment industry is fairly flaky and they weigh these decisions on a different scale. I think Elba is a fine actor (having only seen him in the TV show "Luther"), but I'd prefer that Bond remain traditionally true to his character's conception.

This is a non-issue, though.

On a personal note, HHtoMichigan is just trying to earn his PB "stripes". He's never been a very coherent or consistent poster, but he's doing his best to regurgitate talking points and paint himself as acceptable.

Rush is not confused. Are you? James Bond was a creation of Ian Fleming. He without a doubt, was not black. That's was Rush's point.

In my opinion, as was Rush's, James Bond is a white man, of Scottish descent. If you want a black guy to play the part, he ain't James Bond. Pick another name. Shaft, John Shaft comes to mind.

Nick Fury isn't black either. Nick Fury was a white man from world war II before he became an agent of S.H.E.I.L.D.

So, if you want to re-create history, don't think you can do it without those of us who uphold what the creators originally intent.

Make up your own Goddamn 'superheroes,' and frick off to those of you who think you can change what history as set in stone.

If he's black, he ain't James Bond. If he's black, he ain't Nick Fury.

Neither should Nicholas Cage be cast as Luke Cage in 'Hero for Hire.'
